Default California Convene: Strikes Back! - Complete

California Convene: Strikes Back!

(Updates are at the very bottom of this page)

As many of you know, California Convene was a big success as over 10 people showed up and gathered for a great day of fun and excitement. As you may know, the whole experience was overwhelming and for the people who have no clue what happen, here is the main link to the official California Convene topic:

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...=28318&start=0

Now here is what I am proposing:

Lets all have a grand ol' time and do this thing, one more time! I have gone this over with a few people, and the best time to gather for another meetup at the notorious Ontario Mills Mall is around the Thanksgiving time.

What time perhaps? Well by the great Cenright, he has gathered up the information we all need before hand to make this meetup another great one.

We want to go ahead and preplan what we are using for cards, and we would like to go ahead and say form experience that getting "Timestamp Cards" are the best way to go. Timestamp Cards have a benifit of not wasting your money if you have enough people. Why so? The Timestamp Cards are also in a package deal. Buy Timestamp Cards with a minimum of 10 cards, and each person will save over five dollars on them, also gaining us over 4 hours of fun and excitement!

Thankgiving: Thursday, November 24th, 2005

With 10 people showing up on time: Saturday the 26th or Saturday the 19th.

With less than 10 people: Monday the 10th or Tuesday the 11th.

Why these dates you might ask yourself? Some people have a Thanksgiving break, which is all week. Some people have only the two days, 24th and 25th. With us knowing ahead of time what days are best, we can plan this perfectly and hope to get a better deal on Timestamp Cards.

Thanks for reading, and hope to see you and some new faces at the next Meetup.

For 2 hours, it would be $15 to $20 depending on the size of the group. That actually interprets to around 2 and a half to 3 hours, depending on how much leway the cards have. We can also do other things too. The entire day, you should only have to pay $25 to $35, depending on if you bring food, or not, or what else we do. The day always comes out great though.

This link is for a bigger directory map, in a PDF file.

Now, GameWorks is right next to the FoodCourt, right in the middle top of the map.

So, do you have something already that would stop you from going, or has there been a recent event that made you hate a past one?

I didn't mean the gathering, I meant the mall. That mall was pretty lame.

Yes, but we didn't spend much time in the rest of the mall, now did we? (Of course, there was nothing else to spend time in, so you have a point.)

I'm with Varia on this one. Gameworks blew. The meet-up was cool...but Gameworks, I dont want to go back to that place. We should pick a better place to meet-up that isnt Gameworks. Or for that fact, no place that has crazy-ass employees that try kicking me out because they are jealous of my awesomeness.

(Of course, If we did do Gameworks, I would tell them my card wasnt working again, and see how long it lasts the second time.)

I'll check some different places.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the Powerhouse, at 'The Block' in Orange.

DDR EXTREME, DDR EXTREME, Pump It Up Exceed 2, beatmania 3rd Mix

They are $12 per person for a party, i just have to find out how many people are needed. Plus, this place is a smaller than Gameworks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And Camelot Golfland. (In Anaheim)
Golfland's Site
The Bemani Game listing

4 Tokens Price: $1.00
ARCADE MANIA Price: $5.00
UNLIMITED VIDEO GAMES Saturday 9am - 11am
23 Tokens Price: $5.00
56 TOKENS: Price: $10.00

Extreme machine: 2 Tokens for 5 songs.
Disney Rave: 2 or 3 Tokens for 5 songs.

The minigolf is $7.50 a person.
Replays are $2.00 per game.
There are 5 different courses.

So really, Saturday the 19th or 26th, we could arcade from 9am to 11am for $5.00, then play 2 games of minigolf for $9.50, and that would be exactly what we expected to pay for only the 2 hours at Gamehouse. If we didn't have 10 people, we could play all 5 courses and still only pay 50 cents more than at Gameworks. Or we could do 2 courses, and if we went back to the arcade and bought the 23 token pricing, we would still have the same of only paying $15 - $20. (People could also use a $10 for two people and have one person reimburse the other, and get an extra 5 tokens each.)

Damn, the Mills was an excellent place for me to go, since I live so close by, and there wasn't a parental explanation. I agree is wasn't the best best to hang out, though we did spend a curiously long time at the air hockey. Count me in as a semi-black, mostly blue. Yea, i'm half beat up and almost dying, I guess.

How about we do it in Las Vegas? If we do it at the GameWorks here, I'm sure I could get us free time cards, seeing as two of the managers used to be my managers at GameStop and good friends besides.

Plus, I have a job and have already taken 2 weeks off, before I've even started. >_>

I don't think most of us could make that trip, for a 1 day thing. We would actually pay more in gas and other expenses that it wouldn't work out for us. Sorry.

I agree with sleepless that Gameworks was still a good place to meet because of location, and games. Unless a ton of people LOVE minature golf, then we might just have to deal with the Gameworks people. Besides, their incompetence was what got us 5 hours instead of just 2.

So here is our choice. We try Gameworks again, (I think I have an Idea on how the card failed the first time....) or we try the Minigolf place, and it looks like it has even more of the music games than GameWorks.

Here is the difference though in driving to the MiniGolf place. http://maps.google.com/maps?spn=0.29...heim,+CA&hl=en

28 Miles from Ontario. I don't know who this would be better for, but I doubt it would be good for very many. I know that it is longer for Jewpin and I, (I still need to get Jewpin in here) but it is something to think about.
