Default ITG? Yes! Skills? You decide. [UPDATE with Charlene etc.]

Yo.

I doubt you remember me but anyways... I had posted here a few keyboard Stepmania brags several months ago - check them out if you want [EDIT: Oh wait, the images aren't online anymore, never mind.]. I haven't really played any kind of rhythm games with my fingers since last spring and now, as you might have for some reason expected, this 'brag' is about pad playing and more precisely ITG.

My introduction as a pad player (quoted from my groovestats profile):
Quote:
A Finnish high school student. Got ITG on PS2 in mid-July, have been playing DDR (StepMania on PC) with a pad, as opposed to keyboard playing, on and off since August 2003 though. I play on a sucky TX2000+ pad by the infamous Third Party and use no bar. I also play on the balls of my feet, because I like to play ineffectively like that, burn calories and shape up my calves. :I
On with the show, here are the screenies I thought could be worth of posting here even though the elites can beat these with their facial hair. BTW, the first one, Anubis, is more than a week old, but that Disconnected Hyper score I got just maybe two hours ago.

For me this is a good FA and I guess this was my third tri-star ever. I never have the patience to whore stuff in pad playing either so I was satisfied with this being my first try too.

Geh, it was the pad. Really. The right arrow doesn't function properly and gave me that decent and at least other one of the greats. One great and bad were only me so I guess this percentage would be 97.57% then. Posted mainly because of the FA, the steps are really easy for a 9. :/

So yeah, I'd appreciate any kind of comments you feel like giving. Oh, I did mention that I don't actually use the bar and that's the case but I really don't have anything against playing with the bar. I guess I'll do it eventually too when I get better because so far I haven't even cleared any 11's on ITG. I too hate narrowminded "1x nobar olol" people if they're intolerant when it comes to other playing styles. I play mostly just for fun and exercise, but wouldn't mind a little competition every now and then and that's the only reason that makes me question my own playing preferences.

Bleh, loads of useless text, hope you guys can keep on topic better than I did. ;)

Sweet Disconnected Hyper. I currently hold the record at my arcade for that on Medium with a score of 90.00%. XD Given that score, though, you'd probably get at least 98%. (I'm taking into account your defective pad. And when streams start to get a little fast, sometimes I play on the balls of my feet as well. I really need to learn to fix that.)

For some reason, what the system considers a Fantastic looks a bit late to me, but once I get into the swing of things, I'm pretty decent. Currently trying to get at least halfway through Pandemonium Medium on pad, farthest/best so far is around 13%. I like to do that song to try to improve my speed, but it's just not working out.

I'll see what kind of shape I'm in once school starts again in a week or two before I comment on those scores. Currently trying to build up enough stamina to survive the harder stuff.

nice work though, its a good idea to FA easy before FAing hard, makes your life easier later. keep it up.

Oh I just noticed it was medium also, heh.

Those though are good scores for a regular player, nothing fancy. Work on your speed since it looks like you have good timing.

Ye, thanks for the constructive comments. :)

When I got ITG I played only the easier expert charts for a while and then thought that it'd maybe be better to start with FA'ing hard charts first because my accuracy wasn't really that good. So lately hard charts have been practically the only ones I've been playing save that one medium Anubis I played as my first warm-up song some day and got that score. :)

Now I guess my accuracy has gotten a bit better so I'll get back to those experts and hope to easily crush my old records. I might even play some today and I'll probably just bump this thread with more pictures of the results. Don't expect anything grand though, even I think my speed sucks. :P

Till later.

Default After having played more

Ok, so I played for a few rounds and ...

...

...I really need to go purchase those polycarbonate panels because those plastic ones of my not-so-precious TX2000+ are soon wholly out of order, especially that right one. :/ I thought that I'd play a few hard charts for warming up and then moving up to expert but I did so well that I practically played only hard charts again until my nerves couldn't take it anymore. Curiously enough I got some pretty good scores in my scale so I'll post them now instead of expert ones and get back to those later on when I'll have an entirely functional playing platform. :I

Previous record of mine was 95,4%, haha. My aim was to star this song and guess I succeeded. I got some futile greats though...

I hadn't starred this one earlier either so another ~2% jump here, great. The decent was the pad, I can't remember about the great but yeah, FEC would be beyond cool. Far better FA than on previous attempts too.

First time starring and I was happy to nail those a bit more complex rhythms well this time. Maybe this chart should be a 9 really. :/

Uh, I screwed up on the short 16th stream and got a few greats there, I had better FA than before though, yay. Previous record was 95 something %.

Heh, posting this only because of the grade and this is currently the only hard chart that I've two-starred. :I The great was obvious BS... :P

Altogether it was a nice session but sadly I won't be able to play ITG that often in the near future because of coming matriculation examinations etc etc... and keep the comments coming, boys. :) Does any of these scores stand out or is there something else worth noticing which I maybe haven't realized before?

That sound is a cool song, cool score on it.

I think that one great you can fix, was it the right arrow that did it?

Uh, I can't really recall.. maybe, maybe not. But that was otherwise a very good and maybe even a bit lucky run, so FEC'ing won't be easy but of course possible. :)

I checked that there are around 6-8 hard charts I can't star with this skill level and one that I presumably can't even pass (Pandy, haven't even tried though). But yeah, maybe I'm done with these hards and post later only screens of expert results so people can judge them better. :)
