Default Do you have a job? Poll.

Just spontaneously decided I should make a poll about jobs. Reply with how much you make and what you do and stuff if you would like to. Lot of choices yes.... Well, as for me, my job is pretty crap right now. Just turned 15 and I am working at a local movie theatre for quite a while now. Maybe 4 months after I was 14 I think. Next year when I am 16 however I get to work for my uncles company 20$/h.

I work at TJ MAXX. On Homegoods side with furniture. I work out too while on the job. First job. Been working there for 5 months. I make $6.75. Not bad at all.

Heh. Whats minimum wage in the US anyways? 6.50 I am assuming or 5 something maybe? In the provinces in Canada I think its 6.50/h minimum age even for mcdonalds is 16. In the territories you can work at any age. Heck, I have a friend that worked at the theatre since she was 11 and still work there as of today. Bit over 4 years. Minimum wage here is 8.50 as well. But in the US it would be around that since the currency differnce, no?

I really don't need any extra money, but I go ahead and work with this guys who fixes up houses. $5/h isn't so bad for a 13 year old, if you ask me...

$5.15 is minimum here. That's why it's a big deal for some people when you make $6.75 like myself... haha

Poor fast food workers... HA

My past jobs:

Summer of 96 - worked with 3 year olds as a camp counselor at a synagogue
summer of 97 - worked with 5 year olds as a camp counselor at a different synagogue
summer of 98 - worked with 3 year olds as a camp counselor at the 1st synagogue again
summer of 99 - worked with 5 year olds as a camp counselor at a day camp
summer of 00 - worked as a bank teller until early 02
summer 02 - worked as a bank teller, different bank
summer 03 - worked as a bank teller
summer 04 - worked as a bank teller
summer 05 - working as a gopher for a financial advisor

Pay:
camps... was salary, worked out to be like 80 cents an hour
banks... ranged from 8.75-9.25
this summer... 6 + comissions, which are 15/20 each although few and far between... will work out to 7-8 an hour, I think.

I've worked since I was 12, every summer... and through most of my junior and senior years of HS too.

working with small children sucks. working in banks kicks ass, as it is easy as hell and pays well. plus you get to work with money. I have personally held multiple checks for $1,000,000+, and I have held over $100,000 cash in my hands, and REGULARLY held $50,000-$75,000 (from Giant supermarket's daily deposits, or from a Korean market's daily deposits). working for Wachovia Securities this summer sucks so far, but will look decent on my resume.

I got a job.
$6 an hour plus bonuses (will not mention any for safety reasons).
Basically a technician. I repair printers and computers, plus some tech support.
And yes, I am 14.

There needs to be a choice on that poll saying "Yes, but the pay is bad and I hate the job."

I've worked for Chick-fil-a(popular fast food in the south east) for the past 2 and a half years. The only thing keeping me there is the people. It's one of few places around here that isn't going to treat me like crap. I recently got a raise to 7.25.

I mostly work in the back of the store because I'm efficiant. But I'm also good with the customers and understanding them, so sometimes I work up front on the headset too. I'd rather work in the back thought because the customers can be so mean or so stupid, I get very frustrated.
