![]() Me likey rubik's cube! Let's all discuss the virtues/evils of the wondrous/infernal cube of a thousand joys/horrors! I for one find the cube to be very enjoyable and fun and good and other words and then some more words. Who can solve it and how fast? Who thinks it's EVIL INCARNATE? Who would like to eat one if it were made of candy? And last but certainly not least, who plays FFR with one hand while solving the rubik's cube in the other? I can, but not any songs above easy if I want to finish the cube before the song.

![]() Freshman year (read: 2-3 years ago) I was all about the Cube. Got my 3x3x3 time to a little over 2 minutes, 4x4x4 time to about 10 minutes, and my 5x5x5 to about 35 minutes.
Now I've forgotten how to do most of the ending moves, but I still have my cheat sheets from when I was learning... the 4 and 5 are rough if you don't know what you are doing, as they have completely different strategies from the 3, although the 5 uses both the 3 and 4 strategy. I got pissed when people messed with my 5, as it usually took me close to an hour to fix it.

![]() Cheat sheets, Tass? I'm disappointed. I have yet to get past the top level and the edge pieces for the top three levels on the four and five, but I haven't had much opportunity to try. I need to pick up a 4x4.
I'd like to claim the record for the most ridiculous way of solving the bottom level of a 3x3, though. My move to rotate three of the edge pieces: [Author's note: when trying to count the number of moves in my move I forgot to start counting, so, when trying to undo my move, I ended up coming up with a completely new move. Crazy.] Anyway: 38 moves. My move to turn two of the edge pieces? 54 moves. Ridiculous. Of course, once I could solve the cube myself I got my friend to teach me a ten-move-long move for the former and I discovered that doing it twice will achieve the latter, so it's not as annoying. However, the frequency of the use of the word "move" is. Here's my roommate's pic: Five cubes --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

![]() It still takes skill to solve the bottom. That's the first cube I solved, and my roommate got it just to have all the sizes. If you've ever seen those Homer Simpson head puzzles, all they are are 2x2 cubes.

![]() You can most definitely complete a Rubik's cube the normal way much faster than if you took it apart.

![]() I did it once just to prove I could solve it. I did it in about a 30-45 minute session while I was waiting for my mom at the hair dressers, with no help whatsoever obviously. It was pretty hard to solve, I must say. Actually planning it out and whatnot, and trying to solve it as fast as possible has never really interested me.

![]() I have a 3x3x3 and i can't solve one side, but i try every now and then.
I hate it. I used to have a Rubik's Sphere. I would just pull of peices to solve it. Then I would cry myself to sleep for cheating.
