Don't really like the show. It seems like they try to hard to be funny, and it is too much like family guy.

This show isn't that funny.
Impulsive Overreactive Dad is going to get old fast. The alien and fish are annoying. |

Meh. Why make American Dad, a show that seriously tries hard to be funny, when Family Guy can be funny without trying? AD gets a thumbs down at this point of the game. It has potential, but none was showing tonight. It reminded me of the Super Bowl actually....

At least it was funnier than the dismal, depressing, laughless episode of The Simpsons.

I thought it was ok. Not that bad, a little funny. 7.5/8 out of 10 for me. Family Guy still gets a 10/10 AD is something that I'd probably watch normally though.

American Dad
I'll admit American Dad had it's bad moments, however I thought overall it was a good show.
Even though I've seen practically all of that episode before, I still laughed a lot. My favorite part, where I laughed for a good few minutes (and into the commercial), is when Mr. Smith comes downstairs after hearing a jar break and says "Osama, is that you!?!?!?". I thought that was pure hillarity. @Kilga: The Simpsons episode sucked overall. I was expecting a better episode for what they promoted. The Mario reference was just degrading.

Funny, everyone else I know loved the Mario thing.

RE: American Dad
The Mario reference was hilarious - almost saved that whole episode.
As for American Dad, although some of the humour was forced, it was still funny. Especially when god refers to Cheney as 'sir'.

RE: American Dad
It's the PREMIERE episode. The point of the episode is to introduce the characters as much as they can, show the type of humor it is (similar to Family Guy, obviously), and to throw some small plot in.
It will get better. Family Guy's first episode wasn't the greatest. There's a lot that has to be done in a premiere episode. I think American Dad did it's job. Plus it's by FAR the earliest episode. It was a very early writing that even after many revisals, it still shows its age. I think all of you would be missing out if you tossed aside a series because the first episode wasn't the best. If that was the case for me, I would be missing out on both The OC and Smallville. I now know that I'd be missing a hell of a lot if I would have dismissed them because of their first episode or two... Thank god I didn't. |

RE: American Dad
Everyone is only talking about this 1 episode. I'll tune in a few more weeks (read: Download) and see if it gets better, but g'damn that sucked. I saw the commericals and was like, "Yup. Family Guy clone. Why?" And, I'll stick to that. As others said, the show is almost a complete symmatry to Family Guy with much much much more effort put into it to achieve less of a result.
As for bandit, I hope the show does get better. 2 Family Guys > 1 Family Guy

I laughed a lot at American Dad and can't wait to see more. Sure, the preview wasn't spectacular, but I agree that it will be much better. I'm just extremely glad that they made Steve a whole lot less nerdy.
