It seems to me that the DS is just another gimmicky item for Nintendo that will never live up to expectations. So far, nothing released has been revolutionary, but more evolutionary. Sure, Mario 64 for DS is good, but not enough to warrant a DS purchase. So far, Feel the Magic is the most original game for it I have seen. Of course, watch Nintendo release some killer app like another new Zelda or Mario game that will have millions running out to their Game Stops and EB Games to buy one. That, or Nintendo will have millions of 6 year olds annoying the heck out of their parents until they buy them a DS because they released a new Pokemon game! God save us all.....
Me, I'll be sticking with my GBA SP for at least another year, mostly because of Fire Emblem 2. But, what if Nintendo releases a Fire Emblem game for DS? Then I'd be forced to buy one.... curse you, Nintendo. |

Hmm....look at the PSP's build quality- sticking buttons, control nub(not stick!), easily scratched screen, discs that fly out, 2 hour batt life...Ill save sony the embarassment and stop here before another problem gets discovered while I'm typing this.
Screw specs, the PSP is way more powerful than the DS but nintendo's handheld line has never been the most pwerful on the market, just the best engineered for mobile gaming. In this case, all that power and packaging that makes a winner for a home console makes a disaster for a handheld. Drop the two, the DS will probably survive a fall out of a 5 story building, the PSP will survive a fall of 5 inches to a hard surface at best. Now which one would you rather take on a trip? I'm sorry but the games released for the PSP can't convince me to blow 200$ (this is the msrp and you're an idiot to pay any more than this) on a piece of crap that wont even last the ride home. And what's even more pathetic is the press release from sony saying that this is the most trouble-free launch ever. Now, the DS has very few good games out. mostly because nintendo hasn't made many first-party games. wait for the full version of metroid prime hunters and mario kart DS. these games will show some of the DS's muscle. other games I'm excited for- Xenosaga DS, castlevania DS, Final Fantasy 3 (the japanese one, FF3 here was really FF6 in the series) and I could go on. The verdict- wait 3 months or so and then get a DS and get any PSP's left from the bargin bin.

DS and PSP both have crappy games right now.
Don't talk about the stupid ripoff RPGs like Baten Kaitos DS and Xenosaga DS and stuff. Or the stupid ripoff other games like Viewtiful Joe DS. Fact is, they all suck. Play the actual game, not a crappy N64 graphics ripoff. |

What I found about the ds is all of the gimmicks work really well, or at least in Super Mario. It's a great system with lots of potential. It just sucks when none of your friends have one. If your not sure about getting one, wait till March when good games come out.

I'm going to buy the DS. I just don't like the idea of having spend around $200 for one, and that fact alone is holding me up from buying it.
