Gay I have to type this twice because it got deleted becasue it signed me out ;___;

1st: My laptop smoked, broke down, motherboard fried, all files gone.

2nd: No internet until I get a computer.

Ok since I summarized what I wrote before, which was like 5 paragraphs I made it easir for you.

Ok I need some specs for a new computer already built. Like what RAM or DDR I should get.

I need this so my dad won't get something shitty.

Ok and here is the delema: Dad wants fix the 3 year old laptop. If its more than 400 bucks, he will get a desktop. I always wanted a desktop becasue he never would get one. And lucky me I get a 19 inch if I get a desktop.

BUT I DON'T WANT THE LAPTOP TO BE FIXED OMG 101010101038941287892347 VIRUS's. AVG won't get them off :/. Oh btw like I said all files are gone.

So yeah, no computer or anything for at least a month. No internet and no contest for the few people who know about the FLCR for about a month. Yeah sorry... I'll try to do something about this...

Good luck fixing a laptop. Desktops are almost entirely upgradeable and replaceable- laptops aren't, so whatever you buy to fix it, prepare to add a couple hundred on for technical support. Seriously, it's not worth it. If your mobo fries on an old and shitty laptop, just chuck it, it's not worth fixing. I can give you some good specs if you give me an estimated price range. But as you're going to look at this and go, "I TOLD them I didn't have any internet, how the hell am I going to respond?" I'll give you a great site that caters to your needs:

Ibuypower is a great site, and they have everything from budget PCs to bleeding edge, all fully customizable. Just make sure you've got at least an Athlon 3000 or P4 3.0 with 512 Mb RAM. If you're into gaming, I actually suggest you buy the card separately and install it yourself, since you can get better deals with those elsewhere than you can with ibuypower. But those are a whole different post, so if you need gaming GPU information, just let me know.

hrm.... I had about 5 pc's that got fried up and couldn't use anymore and so I kept losing all my files that had saved games on them... I got so far in something (don't remember) then lost it all. It keeps happening!

Ok im at school...

Ok so, let me start off and say that its a "family computer" and it belongs to my dad. I have no say in what he does to it.

I tell him its not worth it.

Ok so he goes to this computer store, they're like its a lot of money to fix and it isnt worth it. They also say you should just buy a few one and throw this one out. I ask him to ask how much a desktop is and he's all no. And then he asks how mucha desktop is and they will build one with 80 GB, 120 something RAM and a good video card for about 500 bucks. He's like let me think about it.

He goes to Best Buy the next week. He's asks how much is it to fix it. I tell him again it isnt worth it but he doesn't listen to me , he thinks I know shit about computers. So he asks. They also say its also worthless to fix a 4 year old laptop. They say its a lot of money to fix it because its shipped to compaq and stuff. They say to call compaq.

SO GUESS WHAT HAPPENDS NEXT GUYS

He is going to call compaq this weekend to see if they can fix the computer because he doesnt want to bust out over 1,000 bucks on a full set. And he will keep doing this until there is no where else to ask.

well for starters u didnt lose all your files....just buy a Laptop HD caddy and u can retrieve any or all lost files that you want......second HP Media Center m1270n Photosmart PC is actually a pretty good PC Light Scribe is the shiznit, good CPU, good video, Great RAM, and all that extra stuff can be very useful if u even use it

This whole thing sounds like my dad on why I'm not going to get a new guitar. I mean, it plays just fine, but I've beaten it up pretty bad and want a PRS Modern Eagle. My Mom said the day I get a new guitar is the day I get a Lancer EVOVIII, which is when I'm 16 yay!
