As of tonight, a large issue has been brought up in the FFR Chat. The issue is about the popularity of Vampire Hunters versus that of Vampires themselves.
Now, as we most know, Vampires have universal appeal and press in cinema, TV, books, and far more. Usually seen as the antagonist with a Vampire Hunter as the protagonist. But does he/she get the true limelight? That is why this poll has been formed. Discuss within this thread about what you believe is the better of the two, discuss vampires/vampire hunting, myths, legends, etc.

Vampires aren't real? I beg to differ.
In the late 1100's, a region of Europe was inhabitted by a rather large group of men and women who ritualistically believed in the drinking of blood as a way to refresh the mind, body, and soul. Their means of obtaining such blood came from villagers whom they would kidnap and slaughter by tapping the jugular vein whilst they were knocked unconcious. They did so by using their incisors which they had sharpened using smoothed stone. It is said that this group did not die off into obscurity but rather it spread in secrecy. Vladmir Tepes was cited as a Vampire, but in truth, was not. Indeed, cinema and books and the like have blurred the lines on what a "Vampire" is. Afraid of the sun, turn into Bats, yadda, yadda... I don't believe in that. But, nonetheless...

On this issue, after considering the philosophical and intellectual aspects, I have concluded in the supporting of the vampire hunter. The vampire is a ferocious beast who enjoys detaching and consuming the much needed transportation liquids of the homo sapien physical systems. His actions are revolting and should be looked at with a negative attitude. The vampire hunter, on the other hand, tends to be a ferocious human as well, with a lust for vengeance and murder. It is a common theme and concept within films that the protagonist should be, using the slang term, "badass," in that he has a second side to his personality which consists of a need for murder (which also hitns at the degradation of society, anothe rissue which should be put attention to at a later date). However, he attempts only to kill with weapons that he utilizes for death, such as the sword or bayonette, while the vampire enjoys administering a slow, painful death by, as I previously mentioned, cutting through a vital attachment center between the abdomen and head known as the neck. It is for that reason that I came to the conclusion that the hunter is more moral and humane than the monstrous vampire, the lesser of two evils.
P.S. hehe im so formal ![]()

give me documented fact. don't give me 1000 year old fairy tales.
what IS fact is that there is a disease (i can't remember what its called) that requires tons and tons of blood in order to survive. more than that, i am unfamiliar with the side effects of this disease, but i'm 100% sure that immortality is not one of them.

I remember watching this thing on vampires and there is a clult that wants to be a vampire so much they get vampire teeth inserted into their teeth and bite everyones necks (thats in the club) for blood. I think they did this every week with the blood.
And those teeth are permanently placed in their mouth. |

As far as the fake vampires go, I don't see anything wrong with them. I mean, honestly, if vampires were real I'd kinda wanna get bit. I don't go outside during the day much as it is, immortallity would be awesome, and I already think blood tastes good. Besides, I think I could live without garlic or wooden stakes being jabbed into my heart.

Let's look at some stereotypical characteristics of Vampire Hunters and Vampire alike.
Vampires - Pale complexion - Usually wear elegant garbs, adorned with a black/red cloak - Dislike Garlic, Cross/Crucifix, Sunlight - Can be slain only by a blessed stake through the heart - Sleep in coffins - Have rather large "fangs" - Cannot be seen in mirrors - Some are able to shift into and out of the form of a Bat Vampire Hunters - Usually scorned/out for revenge for a friend or family member they lost to a vampire - Use weapons such as daggers, whips, swords, and the like - Tend to come from a decent of vampire hunters - Can either be human or half-vampire (Ex. Dunpeal / "D") - Are usually aligned with God (Symbolism of Christianity/Catholicism through the Cross/Crucifix)

i know. i'm familiar with your condition.
also.... have you not seen Blade (or read the comics?). Silver kills vampires in the Blade series. silver, garlic, sunlight (not uv light), and EDTA (an anti-coagulent). stakes and crosses don't do anything.

In Blade, perhaps. But I was thinking more about the whole Vlad the Impaler suspicions/history/etcetera kind of thing. Proven tactics, not comic book and movie tactics.

I would be Alucard. He's technically a vampire hunter, but the best label for him would be badass.

The way how I think about vampires are through the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice and the Movie Interview with the Vampire. I myself want to become a vampire but eh I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.*snaps fingers* shucks
