Default String Theory

This is pretty much the type of thing I think that Jello will be working on when he has a career. String Theory

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html

That is 3 hours long, but is broken up into 4-8 minute increments.

The first hour is history that any scientific person should know. It is also a must for people with intrest in space.

The rest is just as interesting though, but much more complicated.

I heart string theory. I actually have a decent understanding of it after doing some reading. The video will have to wait until I have the time. Then I can judge how well it's done.

Actually, this looks like the Brian Greene special (before seeing any video). If it is, I'll be extremely happy, because I missed his lecture at my school.

i've read a book on string theory.. very interesting... although, i hate to think that the entire universe is really made up of tiny sperm...

The string theory always sounded interesting, but it feels like there is an underlying flaw in their view of how it all works- some of the main String Theory ideas just don't feel right.

I though the idea of there being more dimensions too curled up and small for us to observe was a little out there, but then I read about it and understood it, so I no longer doubt it as much.

Okay, I watched the first hour of it. Pretty much, all it is so far is a history of physics in the twentieth century. Nothing too exciting for people interested in the subject and nothing too in-depth. Perhaps hour 2 will have more promise.

Yeah, Hour 2 is neat. Hour 3 will give you a crick in the neck. It is a little bit harder to swallow.

Hour 1 is for those people who just want some interesting physics pushed their way.

150 years from now everyone will be laughing at all the crazy stuff we are coming up with today.

Spontaneous Generation? How silly.

Well i do have a basic knowledge of string theory, and i think while possible, it sounds more like something come up by a scientist on pot, i find that you can answer any universe question by reading douglas adams

1. please do not bump old topics....

2. do not ever try and use Hitchhikers Guide as evidence again... by far the worst books i've ever read. or attempted to read, as i am now about halfway through the 1st book in 7 or 8 attempts to read it.

Yeah, you want to talk about crack pots? Douglas Adams is closer to a pot smoker than string theorists.
