Okay, so that was really fun and quite more than I expected.
Basically, I was performing an experiment. I was really interested in seeing y'all's reactions when someone like myself starts a thread worth discussing with some critical thought (though it was kind of tough to keep it distinguished from another thread that was around a month or so ago along these same lines) in the CT forum, but as a complete n00b, complete with a new handle with no posts and a recent joined date. I was quite interested to see the reactions and whether or not I could stir up debate. I didn't expect to see such hostile responses; I expected a bit more civility from this forum's regulars, but I suppose I can understand. As far as I'm concerned, if a thread has something worth discussing, I'll discuss it (of course, with a request to type like a humen). I can see, though, that my sentiment is either not shared (except with Drac), or my post didn't have much to discuss. In the case of the latter, my "experiment" failed. I suppose we can see where our values lie? So, yeah, chardish figured it out; gratz to him. I planned on making this post after it was a week dead, but the process was kind of hastened. This thread isn't much about critical thinking, but it's most pertinent to this forum, so it's here. Sigh, it was fun, y'all. --Guido aka Sabelberg http://andy.mikee385.com |
