Default Women gets pissed at Adult Swim

Parent Finds Cartoon Block Offensive
Written by Bryn Tanner

Ever hear of Cartoon Network? If I could describe it perfectly, I'd say that it's a 24/7 cartoon block. Because that's what it is; a 24/7 cartoon block. The network airs such kids flare as The Powerpuff Girls, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and others, with a variety of programs that are sure to keep your kids entertained for thirty minutes. However, not everyone can be pleased, including Mrs. Hoover of Minneapolis, Minnesota, who was apalled by the latenight showings on Cartoon Network.

"It's absolutely disgusting that Cartoon Network could air such drek." Mrs. Hoover is referring to the Adult Swim block the network airs, every Sunday-Thursday and Saturday from 10 to 4. "I honestly do not see why any children's network should be exposing our children to such perversion and violence." Mrs. Hoover continued. "Hearing the words "damn" and "hell" muttered on the same network that shows Looney Tunes is absolutely absurd. I've even heard them say the b-word at points."

Mrs. Hoover discovered the block's alternate look on animation late one weekday night. "The first show, Family Guy, is an example of everything that's wrong with society. I was shocked from what I saw, and was amazed that any sane person could create something this vile, on a network that kids watch every day." The show stars Peter Griffin, a beer-guzzling porn-watching father to three kids, including a demented baby from Hell, as the show describes. "The baby is a bad influence on
children, as he tries to kill his mother in various ways and says naughty things." The next show, Futurama, was a show that Mrs. Hoover "Wasn't too big on, however, after the disgust from Family Guy it didn't seem too bad for children in comparison." The next show, Sealab 2021, heavily influenced her opinion further.

"The show has fouler language than Family Guy, is even more perverted, and shows how unintelligent the audience to these shows must be." she says. Sealab 2021 is a spoof on an older show, Sealab 2020, made less serious and adds more humor. "The cheapest animation I've seen in my life combined with the mindless dreck, it only makes a smelly roll of garbage that I do not want my children to be exposed to." The next show, comes from the land of the Rising Sun, Inuyasha, an action-based show about a demon dog and a time-travelling girl. "Inuyasha has extreme violence, swearing, perverted monks and demons... you'll frequently
see two girls bathing together, with the star character peeping from the
bushes." says Mrs. Hoover. "Characters slash each other with swords, feel
each other's unmentionable areas, and overall lead a bad influence on the
children watching." The next show Case Closed, also comes from Japan, dealing with murders, kidnappings, and crooks. "The moment I saw a character headless was the same moment I knew this show is not suitable for children. I demand such violence be taken off the air immediately."

Halfway through the episode of Case Closed, Mrs. Hoover contacted Cartoon Network, and angrily demanded the removal of the Adult Swim cartoon block. "This is unimaginable. I can not believe that this network has gotten away with showing such inappropriate shows such as these. I'm apalled, disgusted, and I will imagine better futures for children without this block. Adult Swim needs to swim all its way into cancellation." Mrs. Hoover said as she ended the interview.

See, in a perfect world, people like this are hung before they learn to talk.

That lady deserves to be set on fire.

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the clear parental advisery warning shown every hour or so for like 10 seconds?

The problem with our world today is that natural selection no longer exists. This is the reason that it really should.

Well, they better take Tom & Jerry off the air as well. That is most violent cartoon ever.

Hah.

I was watching CN just a few minutes ago and it said "We are proud of what we offer, but please pay attention to the show ratings and monitor what your kids are watching"
or someting like that.

Explorer closed as I was typing this the first time O_o.

Synthlight wins the thread.

So does Anti, of course.

I disapprove of such parenting tactics. Although I am not a parent, and far from it, I can say with confidence that doing that is pretty damn stupid. And besides, its not like her kids are gonne be up at all hours when they are 8. Why did SHE watch the whole cartoon block? Seems like she just wanted to become angry.

Hang her =/.

Default BS

This has to be the biggest piece of crap I have ever heard. Also the stupidest.

I guess Ms. Hoover didn't catch the disclaimer that airs ever hour or so on Adult Swim. She watched all of the shows so I doubt she could have missed it.

It's not like Family Guy or Futurama are anything new. They both aired on Fox a couple of years back at 8 or 9 o' clock. I guess she wasn't watching TV back then. Maybe there was a blackout in her house for a few years. Oh well.

She seems to me like the kid of person who bitches about how violence and anger are "corrupting and hurting" our children, and then turns around and watches a show like The Sopranos. The Sopranos makes anything on Adult Swim look tame, and is aired at a time when any kid could watch it. 9:00. At least Adult Swim starts at 11:00, when most kids should be in bed. If they're not and they ignore the disclaimer it isn't the network's fault, it's the parents.

And what's this crap about it being on the same network as Looney Tunes? That show teaches kids to solve their problems by dropping anvils on people and blowing shit up.

Meh. It's not like this is the first time this has ever happened. Ms. Hoover can go suck it. (Get it? Vacuum? Hoover? Screw it, never mind.)

That lady is a BAD BAD PARENT. Hell, my dad could sit there and watch adult swim with me, and enjoy every single minute of it. My advice: Make her watch Spike TV for 24 hours, then see what she says about Cartoon Network.

I am deeply offended by the horrible language of this woman, using words such as "drek".

I demand she be taken off the planet immediately.
