Tips needed!

These are some of my scores, I'd like some tips on what songs I should practice on to get better. I can AAA most officials except PSM (1 great),PSMO (5 greats) ,MU (3 greats), and LOM(1 great)

Done on friend's comp, so it says Tom instead of Dave.

I can only pass on .9x

First off, you need to learn to read a bit faster.

C460 is way too slow...you need to work on reading faster speeds untill you can handle stuff at around 600 bpm. Unless you're an oddball, it will definitally improve your scores.

Other than that, just keep practising, and try increasing the music speed on certain songs to build more speed in your fingers.

C460 is pushing my limit of comfortable reading. I can read 600 if I need to (Max. no mods, 4 greats) but it is really annoying to my eyes. I actually prefer C400 to C460, but I use 460 if C400 doesn't spread the notes enough.

Yes it is now, but once you get used to reading 600 its much easier.

Trust me, everyone starts off thinking like that, but its sooo much easier to PA and hit the arrows quickly when they're going really fast.

Okay, I just tried Quasar with C550 and it totally screwed up my score, so I guess it's gonna take some getting used to. My best is 61 perfs 2 greats, and I just got 67 perfs, 13 greats, 1 good, 1 miss.

Give him a break, he'll slowly get higher.

How long have you been playing? Don't sweat the speed you read on for now.

I've been playing DDR for 2 years, DWI/SM for one. Ijust recently got SM because before my comp couldn't run it but I upgraded the ram and now it runs (barely). My comp sux: 433MHz intel celeron, 256 ram(used to be 128), 40 GB HD (used to be 6.4), intel 82810 graphics card. I'll be getting a job soon though so I'll have a new computer hopefully before school starts. Then my scores will go up faster. When I play on my friend's comp (2.8 ghz, 512 ram, etc,) my scores go way up.

He was asking for tips. So thats what I gave him. I know my scores went up alot as I worked at reading faster.

And yea, having a faster computer helps alot too XD

I sucked too much to know if my improvement on reading speed helped my scores. By the time I was ok, I was already reading high.

If you've been playing for a year, then yes, you should work on reading higher BPMs NOW.

I say it's time for you to work on speed (your timing seems to be ok), and yes, reading higher.

Yeah I have good MA but very bad speed. I can barely pass Max300 1.9 rate. But, I can get 5 perfects on I feel... and 2 on holic and 1 on nori nori nori and irresistiblement.

You need to get past DDR originals.

start off with eggmans files...
they are quite ez for keyboard files

And I have quite a bit of originals. 214 to be exact. I was just pointing out my good MA (not by reach/nima standards of course but for someone with my scores) but bad speed skills (still can't pass reality or asb 1x rate.)

Kinda funny... I play on 500+ bpm on foot... and you cant handle it on finger =\
First things first, change some options in your SM options.... like resolution, etc... Try putting resolution to 600 or so, thats usually what I do... if your resoluton is too high, and you have a bad computer, then you're gonna lag a lot at high bpms, and not be able to read them

My resolution is at 600. And on feet I don't use speed mods, I only play 1x. Sometimes I'll use flat sudden or dark though to make it fun. And on So Deep and Drifiting Away, flat makes my score better.

1x on foot? i always use 2x speed. i CANNOT do things with notes even close to eachother or else it screws me up. i need max 300 on foot at 1.5 or else i fail completly. and maybe i can do better on reality if someone could explain how i get 2.5x speed. 3x to fast 2x way to slow =(

I play on 1x on feet becuase I believe that bar/speed mods on feet are cheating. This sounds hypocritical since I use mods on SM, but I don't care. On feet it is also more fun to read songs on 1x or 1x flat, but with most of the current SM songs it is impossible to read on 1x.
