[2013] Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
Fuckin fantastic. It took a couple listens for me to get into it, since it's a bit less lo-fi than Geogaddi or MHTRTC, but man. Really solid album. Can't imagine how people who have been waiting for seven years feel.
Favorite song right now is Jacquard Causeway. Semena Mertvykh was a bit better with the white noise, imo. IF YOU WANNA BUY IT, go to their site. http://www.boardsofcanada.com/ Friend got me the album yesterday as a bit of a parting gift. DAT FLAC

A split between melancholy and ethereal,I'd say. There's a lot more focus in this album, and a lot less samples. It's still very obvious that it's a BoC album. It's darker than Geogaddi.
Loads better than Campfire Headphase imo.

Re: [2013] Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
i kiiiiinda like it
i've honestly never been the hugest BoC fan. their aesthetic is interesting to me but it's like actually enjoying them is just out of reach, idk why. i just lose interesting so quickly. "jacquard causeway" is a really cool song though |

Re: [2013] Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
Lots of this album really took me by surprise, especially the opener, really loved that.
Definitely worth listening; I don't think its darker than geogaddi, I think it's more decayed and scarred than it however. It feels a lot more droning, desolate, melancholic, whereas geogaddi was more in-your-face evil shit that played with your mind (some of the songs which felt friendly had a very diseased undertone). I disagree that it's loads better than Campfire Headphase, but then again, the timing of listening to this album really plays a role in my initial impressions (I've had a lot of emotional times during the listening of TCH whereas this album was just in open curious listening). I'm gonna keep listening to it once every so often and see how it sinks in with me.

Re: [2013] Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
I never had an emotional connection with TCH, so to me, it felt slightly out of place when compared to Geogaddi and MHTRTC. Maybe because GuItArS.
But I didn't really think Geogaddi was all that dark.

BoC in a nutshell
Dark/ambient/hiphop/experimental I can honestly say it's one of my favorite albums haha Tomorrow's Harvest is one of the only contemporary vinyls i've ever purchased (along with Bonobo - Black Sands) 10/10

Re: [2013] Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
Gave this album a full listen. Tomorrow's Harvest is the first Boards of Canada album I've listened to actually, so I can't really compare it to their previous albums such as Geogaddi.
All in all it's definitely a good listen, I personally feel that listening to individual tracks from this album is better than listening to it in an entire go to be honest. Some textures in tracks such as "Cold Earth" or "Split Your Infinities" are rather remarkable but there are other tracks such as "White Cyclosa" or "Palace Posy" that I felt pretty lacking in something. The album is more ethereal-themed more than melancholic for me, it also sounds more... disintegratory? I don't know what's the word I'm looking for. Also I didn't really find the album TOO engaging, but maybe I need to give this a couple more listens before judging, I don't think the album sank in with me yet. Great album nonetheless, it's not particularly my cup of tea, but it's still a very nice listen every now and then. |

Re: [2013] Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
I definitely hear their inspiration of film soundtracks and some of the tracks remind me of some of kubrick's movies or some other trippy sci-fi movie from the 70's/80's like videodrome. I love the old-school vibes and I really enjoyed the album, but to be honest, I enjoy the campfire headphase much more still.
