poem a day
hey, everybody. I'm writing one poem a day about things that tickle my fancy. mainly because I need to begin kicking my ass into writing mode.
anyway, feedback and suggestions are always welcome! poem per day here's today's poem, just so everybody has an idea of where I'm at right now. Quote:

Re: poem a day
aww, thanks : ))) I think that's the hardest part for me, too...just letting go and writing. without worrying what people will think or what even I will think of my own work. what's important is that it's getting written.

Re: poem a day
To burn with the fire of a thousand stars
To ebb and flow like the ocean tides To erupt like a volcanic inferno To freeze over a thousand ice ages To ignite a red giant supernova To collapse into a black hole To split the Earth with a great quake To build mountains to the heavens To devastating planetary collisions To coalescing of a young star To the last breath of man To the birth of a daughter Another observer of it all |

Re: poem a day
forgivable, hannibal rules face (nice pun btw)
imo "beauty" would be much stronger if you could find a way to say what you're saying without ever using the phrase "beauty is" or "beauty is not". i know i'm biased against certain types of poetry, but it strikes me as a kind of hand-holding to ever come right out and say what kind of abstraction you're trying to express (outside maybe the title, which can be a useful place for keys/hints). even just saying "it is" instead i think would be neat

Re: poem a day
thanks for the feedback. I too think it sounds a lot better with a bit more ambiguity, I'll keep that in mind in the future.
too lazy to repost all of my stuff here, but the site will continue to stay updated! |

Re: poem a day

Re: poem a day
gj prayer one is the best (of these) so far. the fifth stanza is a nice touch that makes me think some slight structural renovation to the whole thing could make it all really sing but i'm too drunk right now to think mathematipoetically
keep going man this is such an inspirational thread haha. any day now i'll start working dutifully again on the dusty old series of poems i've had tucked away on my hard drive for like 6 months
