I really want a mech keyboard, but the different switches being good and bad for different things make it hard without trying them all out
How well has each switch worked out for you?

Mechanical keyboards gave me an accuracy boost probably due to louder keytaps. Once you get used to how they feel speed is no problem.

Can't handle my ÆØÅ

My experience is blue switches is good for singlenote streams and MA and brown is a bit harder to get good accuarcy but it's a bit better for hitting aids patterns that require twitch/doubetapping

I've skillboosted a lot when I got my mx blue kb. Also, they aren't really as bulky as they seem

I just bought a brown switch keyboard and got it in the mail today
haven't quite played SM with it for a session yet but from the testing rounds I've played MA isn't too bad compared to my normal skill

Blue seems bad for jacks
Curious if anyone has input on reds/blacks |

I've never used a mechanical keyboard (buying one soon too) but I'd imagine reds would be pretty good for speed since they're so light.

using a blue switch kb for jacks/speed is like using rubber cement to jack off

I was told red switches fuck your MA up since they don't have any feeling of actuation until you bottom them out but my MA is pretty well the same with my new keyboard. Reds are NOT good for vibrating, I've still yet to find a good bulky keyboard that can do this reliably.

like if you put 30 grams of weight on a membrane key, the key won't do anything, but if you put 30grams of weight on a red key, it will go down a bit but not enough to actuate? Last edited by Garquillex; 11-26-2012 at 06:33 PM.. |

Yeah I have the non 2013 BlackWidow ultimate which uses Cherry Blue MX switches. MA is good enough to quad stuff. Jacks I have no problem with since I can feel when I actually miss jacks as opposed to hoping I hit them with my old keyboards (not sure if anyone gets me lol).

Like all Cherry MX keyboards, you don't have to bottom out before the keyboard registers the keytap. It's weird at first, but you adapt to it quickly.
Blues have the loudest click when they are pressed down of all switch types. Amazing for MA and also great for speed. Personal favorite. Browns are not as loud and don't have a click as audible. This is the middle ground, great speed/accuracy and it doesn't drive your neighbors insane with the keytaps. Reds feel like you are typing on air. I couldn't get used to this keyboard, but for others is apparently godlike for speed. Blacks have similar traits and characteristics to hitler. Don't touch this abomination of a keyboard. Linear key presses *cringe* Buckling Spring Keyboard HUEHUEHUE so loud this keyboard will rupture your ear drums. But so satisfying~ 8) I would love a keyboard with 4 keys of each switch type, but I haven't found anywhere that makes custom keyboards to this extent. But what do I know? I love my scissor switch kensington <3 Last edited by PrawnSkunk; 11-26-2012 at 07:05 PM.. |
