Default Lol I broke 4.0 :\

So yeah, What am I doing wrong? Whenever I change it, it works fine. But whenever I close and reopen step-mania it goes back to 999999.000 tempo. Also, its not an issue within the .sm file. It says the propor 170.00bpm - It wouldn't be a problem if it didn't crash the song when I try to play it haha

I have been told to not use 4.0 and use 3.95 - but here is the kicker. I use a mac. Any advice? Thanks.

(When I try to fix it)

Oh I thought you were just editing something. lmao

Then yeah, you're going to want to use DDream.

Insert obligatory link here: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=123423

That's where you can get it, learn how to use it properly, etc.

I dunno. Just depends on what your definition of "small edit" is. Like changing an awkward pattern to make something flow smoother is a small edit to me which takes me like 5 seconds to do on SM. I mean if you're on SM and you're like "Hey, I want to change this." I would rather just do it on SM rather than exit out then open up DDream to do it, but if you don't have either open then yeah obviously you're going to want to edit on DDream.

As I mentioned to you before Xiz, I recommend understanding the SM editor before using DDReam. Don't exclusively immerse yourself in DDReam.

Also, he apparently has this problem in 3.9 as well, so that puzzles me. Has anyone else encountered this 9999999 bpm issue? Need some words from other Mac users.

isn't the 999999 BPM glitch unique to only stepmania 4 beta builds? I've never encountered this anywhere else :/

EDIT: oh damnit this thread is old.

Best post ever lol

Although DDream isn't garbage, there's nothing wrong with editing files inside the actual game they're played on that they're designed to be edited in lol.

I've explained the reason why I'm against ddream several times. it's not because it's not a useful program, but rather because people who use it tend to step every audible sound and completely disregard stepping the song. it takes all fun value out of the song and feels like a patashu syndrome file where you don't really know what's going on anymore because there's so much shit going on and colored notes when there really is no business having colored notes. also shifting bpms every measure are a huge pet peeve since it does in fact mess around with the sync a little.

though I can somewhat agree with the thing about stepping every audible sound, you can just save as a single BPM. in the case that my simfile has extra BPM changes, I go through and delete the unnecessary ones - usually few.

DDream has made stepping way less stressful to me

why blame the tool when you can blame the people? ddream is perfectly capable of being used to make normal simfiles (e.g. super meat boy pack was made 100% in it) and when you use it for that you can step about 1.5-2x as fast due to all the little efficiency helpers (quicker syncing, waveform display, mouse control, lower delays when playing/pausing/moving around)...

also I do this

BTW, to the original poster: try editing out the bpm changes that are at the start using notepad++, then reloading the simfile from disk in the sm4.0 editor, then it should be gone. I had to do this in sm3.9 sometimes because if you place a change/stop on a triplet sometimes it rounds the wrong way and when you try to edit again you're like .001 off lol
