There was a folder I accidentally deleted from Recycling Bin about a week ago. Is it possible that I can retrieve that folder? If so, how would I go about doing that?
If you know any programs or nifty methods that can help me get my folder back, please share them with me, this folder is very important! Thanks in advanced. |

once you 'take out the garbage' it can't be retrieved. It is permanent.

Install a file recovery program ASAP, the longer you wait the harder it is to get back.
(I recommend turning your computer off ASAP and then plugging your drive into a different computer so that the locations don't get overwritten.)

To put it simply, when you delete a file from the recycle bin the computer tells the harddisk that the data of that file becomes "vacant" and can be overwritten by any future potential data written to the disk. If you deleted a file by accident and want to retrieve it, you should -stop- running anything on the PC at that very moment and use a data recovery program or something to try recover it.
If its been a week, I'm afraid the file is probably unrecoverable as it has probably been overwritten by newer data. You could look for data recovery softwares and give it a try though |

There are some tools out there, but no guarantee it will work.

AJ and I use recuva. Try that out, but like the others said it's possible it's been overwritten already.

*10 minutes later you find out that you overwrote the data by installing a recovery program*

There's one last hope if he's running Windows (which I'm assuming he is because he called it the Recycle Bin): System Restore.
It's a handy little tool in the Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance that basically lets you reset your system to what it was at at some time in the past. This includes time and date settings as well as any programs you might have added/removed in the interim. If there's a system checkpoint from before he emptied his bin, he can get that file back by doing the restoration.

^^^^^^ Ninja'd.
Couldn't you do like a system reset? Where you tell the computer to revert to how it was x number of days ago? I remember doing that on one of our old computers, though I don't think it was for 'trash' recovery. -o24

Yeah I recommend Recuva. Piriform software is great. Get CCleaner while you're at it.

System restore recovers the registry, not deleted files.
