10-key controller.
Here's the deal.
I really want to play 10-key Stepmania. SM SSC can do it. It's possible. Yet, keyboards suck for 10-key Stepmania -- so I need a custom controller. I had discussed commissioning a controller with the desktoparcade guy, but something came up on his end and we couldn't go through with it. So here's my promise: if you can find me someone that can make me a *good* 10-key controller for a price that isn't outrageous, I will paypal you $10. They have to follow-up though: you will get your payment after I get my controller. Otherwise you could just PM me some guy's IM and I'd pay you $10 for nothing. $10 is not a lot, but it's a meal at a quality Thai restaurant. If you get me a guy I will buy you dinner, essentially. So what is a good controller? Two clicky backspace keys for the thumbs and the rest can be alphabet keys. They must be clicky, too -- I am really possessive about my clicky keys. Finally: I must be able to hold all 10 at once, and perform all kinds of hold variations. For this to "work", that is mandatory. If you can make this controller, I will provide you with a hand-sizing chart so you can space the keys according to what's comfortable for me. |

Re: 10-key controller.
When I think of 10k this comes to mind, though it doesn't fit your desired requests
There's also a 14k variation of it which might give some inspiration with weird button layouts EDIT: A ghetto, realistic setup is dual-wielding keyboards but I don't think that's what you're looking for either Last edited by LongGone; 08-11-2011 at 02:25 PM.. |

Re: 10-key controller.
are you demanding that we make a controller for you
like, you definitely cannot be responsible for making it, it has to be one of us

that image is borderline orgasmic -- how would one read a screen with that jumbled mess, though? D:

Re: 10-key controller.
I feel like a stenograph machine keyboard would actually be best, though the keys on them aren't clicky like the Das w/Cherry Blue switches; they're completely different.. Oh, and there's no possible way to find one for 10 bucks.. Wow, I am really not helping.

I want to buy a custom controller. This is me paying for the opportunity to buy one, because right now I don't know a person who can make me one. In other words, I will pay you $10. I will pay the controller-maker whatever the controller costs. You get $10 for finding me a person. |

Re: 10-key controller.
so you don't want to like
learn how to make one yourself that would be a rather interesting experience and wouldn't involve dragging anyone else into a game that you don't intend anyone to be able to play other than yourself

Re: 10-key controller.
Look dude, I want a controller. This is a scenario where I care about the ends, not the means.

Re: 10-key controller.
I own that controller lolololol
The desktop arcade guy kinda sucks. He took forever to finish that controller and he was terrible at replying to emails. I did meet him at an anime convention,he is a nice guy. Just lazy What kind of set up are you looking for the 10-key controller?

Re: 10-key controller.
QWERV BUIOP
roughly with "V" and "B" being backspace keys, or something of similar length. these are not exact measurements though. I have a chart with exact measurements but it has my handwriting and I'd like to keep that a secret. (hehe.) The desktop arcade guy was going to use IIDX start buttons, but these can use recycled keyboard keys for all I care. It just needs to be clicky and work. Re: 10-key controller.
It would probably be easier to try a dual keyboard set up with like tyui(alt)(left hand) and qwer(ctrl) (right hand).

Re: 10-key controller.
I just thought of something... if you do get the keyboard custom made and you create 10 key stepcharts, the only one that would be able to play them is, well, you, Arch.

Left: QWER Space Right: 456(Or 789) +signkey, Right Arrow It may not be the best, but you'll be able to do 10 key.
