So me and a pal have been kicking around an idea for a graphic novel for a while, and now that both of us are out of college and working, we thought it would be the perfect time to actually try and get it made. It takes place in an alternate future, during the aftermath of a global war. Society has reformed itself, and we follow the lives of a group of characters modeled after the Greek gods.
We have an avenue there in terms of publishing it and maybe even making a profit (or at least break even on the printing costs) - the guy who handles PR for Kickstarter, an online fundraising platform, used to be my boss (Kickstarter is a model that works - I've used it before) and my pal works at a printer so we'd be able to get a good deal there and he knows how to handle the layout. Here's the link to the site: http://www.kickstarter.com/discover/...ics?ref=footer. I also had Scott Snyder as a teacher in college (he writes for DC Comics - Google him) so if this goes anywhere at all, I'd ask him for some advice and to look at the semi-finished product. The first issue is 24 pages and if fundraising is actually successful, we might make more. The only thing holding us back is finding an artist. We've talked to some, but their quality isn't great or they're busy with other stuff. We'd be willing to pay a small $ per page, or split the potential profits from the printing. Is anyone here interested - or know someone who might be? If there are any tips you'd have for us, or any sites you could recommend to find artists, I'm all ears. We're pretty serious about getting this made. |
