Really sketchy question
Someone I know just got canned by the cops for unlawful delivery and unlawful possession of heroin. I am writing here to ask if anyone here happens to have a rough idea for the minimum sentencing for this sort of thing. I've done a lot of Googling and answers seem really vague (usually I only get maximum caps for things -- I want a sort of average-case or best-case scenario/minimum). So hopefully I can get a better idea if anyone happens to know any cases or know any people that got canned and how long the sentence was for.
Thankssss |

Re: Really sketchy question
Yeah, A good amount of time in prison. Depending on the amount and whether or not your friend was charged with selling plays a role. I'd say like 10 years max.

I say 15 years at the max imo.

Re: Really sketchy question
Again I am not talking about maximums. Talking minimums, here.

Yikes, Rubix. Hope everything turns out all right.
Depends on what the laws are in your area, though possession combined with delivery usually spans over the course of years along with hefty fines. I don't profess to know Manhattan law (or law in general for that matter), but let's just say you better hope he finds one hell of a defense attorney. |

Re: Really sketchy question
... He's not asking for max sentencing possibilities (as stated in OP), he's looking for average.
How much was he/she caught with? It would helpful to know seeing as that's a huge factor in terms of sentencing length.

Re: Really sketchy question
Always depends on behavior in jail, how much heroin it was, any deals that get made, etc. If it was a dime bag he won't get much. But if it was a kilo or something then yea he's going to do hard time.
Frankie's friend was in the same situation, got 6 months since it was a first offense. Just be sure he behaves during the process leading up to sentencing. Hell, he could even get community service if he's lucky.

What state your friend and you live in probably plays a role as well.

Re: Really sketchy question
No, nothing to do with me at all. This is just someone I know from back home in OR who made some really stupid life decisions. But I have no idea what to expect.

Re: Really sketchy question
Honestly, again it depends on the amount he had on him at the time. If it's not much, he will get pretty much a slap on the wrist with fines and MAYBE .... maybe probation/community service or rehab. Even with the slightest drugs they'll send you to rehab if they find out you use it. 9/10 times a deliver/possesion charge means you use them. As long as it's his first offense they should be "alright."

Re: Really sketchy question
You can get 10 years AND $10000 fine. However, there are a whole list of factors that could lessen or heighten the charges.
