[REQUEST] Help getting started designing profiles
Hello
I have alot of experience using Photoshop, but mostly, I'm just using it for my own sake. Making wallpapers, experimenting around etc. But now, I'm interested in starting to design some actual profiles both for me and possibly for others, should they be interested. The design on my profile now is very basic. Just a header and a Carbon Fiber pattern background that I made for the sake of practice. Bottom line, I've got the basics, but I'd really appreciate some guidelines / tips / tricks to be able to make some more advanced / better looking profiles. And just a couple of extra questions, what size is the BG image? As of now, I've just made a pattern that repeats itself over the whole profile. How would I get a good resolution background, and make it so it wouldn't repeat itself? Thanks in advance, any help will be much appreciated! |

Which profile are you using? The new one or old one?

I'm sorry, what do you mean?
I'm all new both to profile design and FFR :P But its the one where the avatar is on the top of the page; not on the left side.

Oh alright that's the new one. I'm not sure about how the new ones work, I only made a profile like once for the old ones.
For what I understand the dimensions were 996x3250 for the bg. And then he just put a blank header. Which made it smoother. There's not a lot that I can say. |

Valid point in saying it flows better to make a transparent banner and then just make the top of the bg however you want the header to look. Makes it a lot smoother. A lot of people use the bg to highlight their info and their random thought/comment wall too. Good example of this would be http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/profile/condoct/

William I'm totally intruding on your thread. ^_^
FOR ANYONE WHO IS READING THIS: Halp, on the far right of my profile how do I rid the block background which is covering up my custom background? I think I'm just having a dense moment here but I can't seem to get rid of it.

The random thoughts block? or the stats block?

Re: [REQUEST] Help getting started designing profiles
She fixed it; It was the actual background picture that repeated itself due to being too narrow, and since its alot of black, it looked like the right part had a black background.
Problem fixed, anyways. But thanks!
