I know that the distant mod is good to use in case you need to improve comboing but accuracy-wise in my case, my MA starts to drop.
My MA feels much better without it but if I do use it, I can see myself improving in comboing songs that are hard to read (like some OPs in midare's packs), but I also want to improve my MA too.. should I stay on Distant? I'm using orbularfv with Distant, and I'm starting to get used to Orbular. Here's what I'm talking about (I know they're very bad scores, bear with me :[) Distant with Orbular: ![]() Overhead with Delta: ![]() Last edited by LJRoX; 12-28-2010 at 10:14 PM.. |

Hmmm, a mix of Orbular, Distant and high C-mods seems a good thing, but I don't know. Based on my own experience (which I know it's small compared to a good amount of active players here in FFR), it's better to use a arrow-based noteskin (Note, Cel, even Metal), Overhead/Reverse, with a C-mod 50~150 BPM higher than what you already use. I used to play with these mods, and had a good balance of speed and precision.
Maybe you can stick with Orbular+Distant+C700~C900 for a time, and see with you can actually play with them. |

True, I'll stick to Distant + Orbular, but if you say arrow-based noteskins are better to use for balance then I'll use Delta instead.
I'm still not sure why I'm getting more PA than MA (look at 1st pic) What I hate is that I have to press the keys a little later in comparison to overhead, which is really irritating >_> I'm not sure how I'll get used to it. |

it might be because you're switching back and forth. also your cmod might be just enough different to throw you off

Cmods you say?
Hmm, I'm not sure how to estimate the speed differences in Cmods 700~800. I use C700 with overhead, not sure how much I have to use with Distant. I'm guessing it's bad to switch back and forth, I thought I could get used to both by balancing the two in terms of usage. |

If you can handle C700 Overhead, you can handle C900 Distant. >;

Distant takes time to get used to. Its just a choice you have to make whether you want to stick to it or not. Hopping between the two isnt going to get you anywhere.
When I went to distant I went from C660 overhead to C920 on Distant |

Mini is such a better use than distant.
Try using it instead and if you have and think the step panel is too small or big, just open the metrics.ini and change the percentage of mini. |

When i was playing overhead, at the time, i was playing at C750. When i switched to Distant, i was playing at C900. Once i got used to it, i ended up decreasing it to like C850.
Currently, I'm using C750 distant for some strange reason. Now when i go back to overhead, i use c600 lmao

C900 seems a little too fast but I'm getting more MA than I used to at C800 Distant, which is kinda weird but I'll try giving it around a month of playing to get used to.
So basically ilu, you add 150 to whatever Cmod you started using from overhead to the Cmod you're using with distant? I might have to fluctuate between 850 and 900 from C700 Overhead. C850 vs C900: ![]() ![]() Thanks for your help so far guys. Last edited by LJRoX; 12-28-2010 at 11:27 PM.. |

it's a percentage thing, not a constant.
one way to check is make a file with all 16th notes or something, and then screenshot what it looks like on overhead and distant. count how many notes you can see. once you can see the same amount of notes on distant as overhead, then you've found the equivalent cmod.

Just keep messing with the speedmods, you'll eventually find one comfortable.

I had the same problem as you, I got trouble with my MA when I changed to Distant. So I got used to Distant and my MA's back (Probably better). I usually add 10%-15% extra Cmod when I change from Overhead to Distant.
I played with Overhead C850 and then I changed it to C940. I increased to C1020 Distant and somehow can play C900 Overhead with no problem. You might want to try C750-C800 first. If it's too slow or too hard to read, just increase to C825 and such. Just play with the Cmods a bit. |

Thank you for your advice guys, I appreciate it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who ran into MA trouble so hopefully in a month's time I'll be able to catch up on my MA, if not, even better :O |

Lol anisakis standard.
Stick with what you like. I personally use Hallway because I can see more notes at once, allowing me to read better. |
