Default MarioKart

Would anyone want to race sometime?
My FC is 2493-4707-0536

I also wouldn't mind comparing time trial times - I beat all the expert staff ghosts =p

I have been thinking of buying MK for a long time, cause the wifi is good, but for some reason I never buy it :/

Mario Kart Wii is such an awesome game, and so fun online. Problem the items are so bull**** that it takes no skill to win (which I guess is okay since new players won't be so afraid of online, but still)

I've been hit by three blue shells before and still won a race - however the shorter, easier tracks do give the advantage to the newer players. Mastery of mini-boosting and wheelies (why they make you go faster I do not know) is enough of an advantage to take a blue shell or two against new players.

Items have both positive and negative effects on gameplay, but I doubt it would be as fun without them.

The retardedly overcompensating rubber band mechanic bothers me far more than items.

edit: of course, the rubber banding affects items, so that's part of the problem right there.

Blue shells are the only thing the leading player really has to worry about, because all the other big items hit everyone else but the user as well (Pow, lightning). The items are the only manifestation of this rubber-band effect. If you use a bike, do wheelies, mini boost, and corner well, you can blow newbs out of the water, even with a blue shell or two. That is unless you're on Luigi Circuit, that track is garbage online and I'd agree there.

Nope. Position also affects top speed. You can try it in any MK, but N64 Rainbow Road shows it best. Using the shortcut to cut out 40% of the level results in the other players suddenly obtaining absurd speeds.

Pretty much, that and Yoshi Falls. I don't mind the items, it's what makes Mario Kart the game it is. Only one I dislike is Bullet Bill, incredible speed, autopilot, smacks everyone in the way, yea pretty cheap.
