Online Riddle Games
I’m sure many of you have heard of these internet riddle games, like notpron, and many have played them. Now I need to ask you to please express your opinions on something.
As you may or may not know, the majority of these riddles rely on using the url bar of your browser to navigate to a different level. If a flash version of a game like this was made, obviously there wouldn’t be an url bar. Of course, being flash there can be many interesting and unique ways of proceeding to another level, but the basic functionalities of an url bar can still be recreated in flash (although it would feel different and probably be a bit buggy). So, what I’m asking is: If a flash version of a riddle is made, would you prefer that it be kept the classic way, of having some kind of url bar that is present on every level, or would you rather have the url bar removed and alternatives found? thanks.

Re: Online Riddle Games
Keep the URL bar.
I still say HTML is the best way to go for these type of games. :/ |

Re: Online Riddle Games
Yeah, pretty much. There are too many hint locations lost if it is entirely flash-based (source code, image manipulation/exif, page titles, etc). If you want a flash-based riddle, just play an Escape Room or something.

A flash notpron could be the most fail use of ability ever, assuming there was any ability in the first place.

Re: Online Riddle Games
I'm still making new levels. Up to -7 now. ;D
But yeah, HTML-based are pretty easy to construct, but can be really hard to add to after a while, if you don't want any repetitive levels. I have to think fairly hard to add new levels, but I try not to think so hard, but rather just use random ideas that come up (especially when in the bathroom). |

Re: Online Riddle Games
lol the question is not about html vs flash, it's that flash is set, should the url bar be in flash.
But anyways you don't have to worry about losing hint locations and anything... it'll all be good... after all Rubix is the one making the levels...

Re: Online Riddle Games
I can't wait to see that. The only problem with Flash is that we can decompile it. The reason why most of riddle sites are Web-based is because they don't have to show you the source.
You may also want to take a look at this. I did the first 100 or so riddles a while back and I liked their way to input the answer. A simple input box. No need to have a real URL imitation. Can't wait to see what crazy riddles MrRubix will think of... |

Re: Online Riddle Games
No worries, we will be obfuscating it. of course it doesn't 100% proof against people decompiling it but not too many people will bother.
And I'll try that riddle...

Re: Online Riddle Games
HTML = Holy Tamoli! Major Lameness!
URL bars are conveniently for web riddles, not flash game riddles. BE ORIGINAL and not poserful.
