Default Current simfile status

Absolute (Rock Guitar) v2 (new keyboard steps)
Classic 9
Drum Machine
Genos Woods
LSD v2 (new steps)
Never Gonna Come Back Down
No. 13
One Winged Angel v2 (new keyboard steps)
Paranoia -Respect- v2 (new challenge steps)
Payon v3
Super Mario Bros v2

Kick Your A is finished and submitted. Just wait untill it comes out in its respective Tournamix 5 bracket.

I might bail on No. 13 depending on a number of things.. graphics is one of them, but not so much.

Out of these songs, the following need new or revamped GFX:

Absolute (Rock Guitar) v2
Classic 9
Genos Woods
Never Gonna Come Back Down
No. 13

I haven't even started on Classic 9 yet, or even made the actual folder in my directory yet, so don't get all hyped up about it. The bg for Classic 9 would actually be the easiest out of all of these to do, however.

I could also do a classic 8 v2 with added challenge steps if reach would be willing to make a few changes to the current bg (just the layer with the chicken guy)

Genos Woods and NGCBD are both EXTREMELY close to being released. They both just need graphics. The Genos Woods bg will take effort, the NGCBD bg won't and I have a specific thing in mind and from what I've seen from people it's really easy to do.

oh and if it means anything genos woods has 12 foot challenge steps

I can't wait for the Absolute Rock Guitar V2. I loved the song and your steps to the original one.

Geno's Woods as in Super Mario RPG right? Please tell me there is going to be easier difficulties on Geno's Woods too. I can't stand these stupid 11 and 12 foot challenges.

You sent me the double steps. Even when autogened I could like FC them and they were pretty gay.

And uh...thats only cause you're no good at this game freak. Pad steps on keyboard are boring :<

Of course, Xilo =D

And uh Genos Woods has 9 foot heavy steps that go to the melody. Unlike some people, I make more than one difficulty =\

evilbutterfly don't bring that up they were met for the most part.

Well.. more then one difficulty = extra work. Besides, I rarely play the "pad" or easy-keyboard steps anyways, if they're 9 foot or lower. If they're 10 foot I'll play them.

But I can't wait for your simfiles Arch0wl

Yeah well, evilpeer that's you.

When you start getting a larger audience you start getting more and more people wanting to play your songs and minorities become significant parts of your audience. When I first started I didn't really put any effort at all into anything but heavy since my audience for that was jack nothing and mostly keyboarders, but now it's ludicrous for me to skip on concentrating on all difficulties.

When I make a simfile I have to think about the widespread effect and the way to please as much as people as possible. I can't just make a simfile that caters to my specific tastes or a small minority group like someone like Reach can anymore. I did with blur, and look what happened...

You may think the numbers are small but it really shocks me how many people have really downloaded or played my files. Not even counting FFR, the numbers of downloads off my site alone are in the upper thousands, and the numbers of people that send them through AIM is a lot more as well, same with direct linking.

So basically I can't make a simfile anymore without considering every single type of person that plays it. There's no way to please EVERY SINGLE type of taste but it's best to at least try to make as many people as possible enjoy it.

ah, well thanks for the long explanation

I completely understand where you're coming from. Yeah, you have a huge reputation as being a key simfile maker, and as such, your simfiles are regarded as good nonetheless (Blur being the exception, and maybe a few others) and are downloaded.
You've probably had newbies complain to you about the difficulty of your stepfiles before. Well, maybe when I do get a larger audience I will consider easier steps.
Even now though, my steps aren't hard. They're good for the less-then-average player. So it's alright for just about anyone.
However, I'm sure I'll run into a song that will require or just breath hard steps. So yeah, I will probably start making Heavy and Challenge steps for people of all skill levels when the time comes.

started working on mario

same with no 13, got a clean mp3 of it

I am also thinking about DWI'ng Drunk Monky from Beatmania 4th mix. If anything, it will be a quickie. A novelty DWI, as it's extremely easy to make steps to.

I started work on Never Gonna Come Back Down today. I'm over halfway done and I'm in a zone. Expect it done within the next 24.
