(in case you didnt know, <> means "is not equal to")
i'm sick and tired of this. alot of people seem to think i'm new because i dont have many posts. actually, i've been here longer than most of you. i remember when the FFR interface was totally different. before there were characters to choose. when hellbeat was the hardest song. the only reason i have a low-ish post count is because i didnt start posting until quite recently. my join date is actually later than it should be, too. i've been playing for more than a year. i didnt sign up for a long time because you didnt have to back in the day. so really, you people need to not be hating just because somebody has a low post count. yes, some people are real n00bs when they first post, but you shouldnt assume somebody to be new just because they dont have many posts. i'm better than alot of people at this game (nowhere near the best, but still pretty good) and i've been here longer than most, yet i'm still looked down on, and it makes me sick. so, there's my point. tell me what you people think. i have a feeling people will flame this and call me a n00b anyways...

Intelligent people will look at a person's join date as more important than his post count.
Join date * post count = experience rating, I guess. Post count does matter, but only up to a point. As long as you have > 500 posts and you don't postwhore, most people will take you seriously. Also, if you've got more than 9 months on you, people should take you seriously. Butterfly, your post count is reflective of the time you spend on the forums. And the more time you spend on the forums, the more learned you're likely to be. |

Not equals to - !=
230 isn't a noob number. I think anything over 50 isn't a noob number. I'm sure most people feel this way, considering most of the people who post on this forum post anywhere from 0 to 5 times, and never again. Ask a question, reply once or twice, end. That's it for their forum life. Look in the members page, see what I mean. http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...DESC&start=100 This is only page 3 now. I'm just behind on page 4. There are 700+ pages with 50 members each! ~Squeek |

i dont suck at typing, i'm just too lazy to capitalize. this was discussed extensively by me in the grammar post, so i shan't get into it now. but really, why should capitalizationg matter? my grammar is more than understandable, and it's not offensive like typing in all caps is. i dont see the big deal. anyways, back on topic. i'm not new
EDIT: just looked, and members 2517 through 36000 have 1 or no posts. so, yeah, >50 is good enuf also, <> is not equals to in programming (well, VB, at least. i dont know anything else)

I took Java and "is not equal to" was !=.
I don't know what language uses <>.

his own language.. this isn't a debate on what <> equals.. or if =! is the correct code or not.. this is to discuss why someones post count makes there posts more important that someone without a high post count.. well the answer to that is simple..
Everyone with a high post count is known.. If you post whore to get your post count, everyone will know and your post won't mean shit.. If you just take your time and get a high post count the long way.. like I did and many others did.... then your post become very credible because you have proven yourself to not be a dumbass.. Post count and Joined date kinda go hand in hand, because thats the quickest way to see if someone is a post whore or not.. Experience comes with time, and with time comes a high post count.. so.. all these things kinda play together.. hm©

I have an example to shoot down that post # = credibility and experience.
Moogy for example is a complete crackwhore and should never be listened to or taken seriously. He shouldn't even be acknowledged sometimes. (Although I will give it to him I do laugh at some of his posts.) Xilo, only has a small amount of posts but he has almost immediately become a force to be reckoned with on the FFR boards. Thus, # of post =/= credibility and experience. BTW =/= is the closest thing I could get to a "not equal too" sign. Also. The amount of time that an account is registered may or may not have something to do with experience and credibility. I'm sure there are cases where people have had an account for a while be are just starting to post.

i only average .6 a day, probably because i post intermitinly (sp!?). i'll post hardcore for like, 3 days, then quit for a week, then post a ton 2 days, then not at all for a few, etc. the thing that makes me mad is that alot of people thought i was a newbie when i 1st started posting, even though i'm not at all. it's just frustrating when people wont listen to me just because i dont sit around on the forums all day posting (not to say that you guys are losers with no lives, just that i am a loser with no life that plays games other than FFR).

Yeah, I don't post much, but I read the forums a lot, and I've been playing FFR for a long time (although, I was gone for a while, too.. I've been here forever, though..)
Also: != From C or Later, I think <> is in Basic, and probably all forms of Basic. =/= would be the mathmatic way to write it.

Credibility must be a mix of the two stats. I've played flashflash since its first month and became a registered user as soon as it was available (I dunno what's up with my join date). However, I didn't know crap about these forums until I started to post, which was a month or two ago. I try to build credibility by not postwhoring, but I certainly didn't have it by just being here for a long time. Chardish had it right with the multiplication formula.
Evil, was there something you did for people to not take you seriously? I didn't have that problem when I first started... Oh, and it's "intermittently", for the record. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com/ |

Hey I'm on the first page woo...
Yes, when I was a n00b I did postwhore in the garbage bin a bit. (Not as bad as some, however.) It's funny how the first person has nearly 5000 posts, and the 50th doesn't even have 750. Qreepy = Postwhore ![]() |

All I've got to say is that both != and <>, and even not= and ~= mean "not equal to" in some language or another. I believe the most common notation is !=

i think one of the big things that makes people hate me (other than being new on the forums) is that i dont capitalize. for some reason people think that not capitalizing means you are a stupid idiot. oddly enuf, i use proper grammar and all that goodness, i just dont feel like hitting shift all the time. i had a big argument with MRESqueek on the grammar post about it...kinda bad on my part for getting into that.
(gotta remember to make new paragraphs. i'm getting better at it) anyways, yeah, i see what you guys are saying. post count alone means nothing, but with other stats u can accurately judge.

OMG N00B IT'S ENOUGH NOT ENUF OLOLZORZ
Actually, it really doesn't bother me that much if you use an occasional slang word like that. It's the people whos vocabulary consists totally of those "abbreviations" that drives me insane. |

~= or just ~ means about equal to, usually.. for example, 3.004 ~ 3. Mainly used for rounding.
I try to never post whore, and stay away from places like the trash bin.. I'm a very experienced forum user, just not around here.. I've been using forums for many'a year now, and am sadly becoming a forum junkie again.

I know it means that usually. That's why I think it's pretty damn stupid to use ~= for not equal to, but hey, some languages do it. Mainly Turing.
