Spelling
I'm of the opinion that correct spelling is necessary for everyone to use. Some words look like other words and without correct spelling, it's easy to mince meanings. Even words that don't look like other words need to be spelled correctly because a person's bad spelling will only get worse, eventually leading to misunderstandings.
With that said, here's a spelling lesson. Some people really need it. definitely, not definatly or defenetley or however else people like to do it. Remember, it has the word "finite" in the middle. congratulations; there's no d. masturbate, not masterbate dying, not dieing Ok I'm at school now on a crappy keyboard, I'll update this later.

Another one:
Necessary. Maybe no one but me misspells that, but I have to look it up every time I want to right it. Also, no one is two words. I see lots of people (not here, really, but I do see lots of people) put it as one word (noone).

^ see kids, that's why you don't do drugs.
But seriously, the way people spell is getting worse and worse because they think that they can use spellings for words in AIM (like saying u instead of you) on actual work. I remember seeing papers and projects with stuff like this during school. The real funny part is most often in English where spelling really counts. The people who did it thought they were being funny and then complained when they got a %60 on a project/paper where spelling counted(I can't wait for the stories about what they put on the finals). Spell words however you want when talking to friends just rremember that spelling will count in certain areas of life. Oh and one question, looking at Chrissi's first post, how many people put a d in congratulations? My brother is six and he wouldn't do that. I check his homework

^ Random arrow.
Just because you pronounce contractions the way you do doesn't make it the way you spell it out. Here's what I'm talking about. Could've / Would've / Should've etc. Anything with the "'ve" ending. Here's how the idiots of the world write it. Could of / Would of / Should of. GO LEARN. "I should of ducked" makes no sense. None. - of +'ve. Please pay attention in your English class at whatever ghetto school you go to. Tyro. More later. ~Squeek |

peeve
I know this is a bit off topic, it has more to do with grammar but one of my biggest pet peeves is when people say "them are" It is so ridiculous. "Them are really nice." NO!! "Those are really nice." I wonder if this bothers anyone else as much as does to me. I've also seen the word "conscious" spelled wrong quite a few times.

I definitely would've been dying if I couldn't masturbate because it feels like a "congratulations!" from God, even though no one, exluding myself & Jono (the rest are lying), believe it's necessary.

My biggest pet peeve is the misspelling of "lose". I swear, it's everywhere as "loose". I've seen a few friends do it, I've seen it in the forums, I've seen it on the back of a cereal box, I've seen it IN MY LOCAL NEWSPAPER!!! This is an epidemic, and I have no idea from where it came. I can't possibly comprehend why ANYONE would want to put an extra 'o' in and completely change the word. It's ridiculous. For the love of God, people, there is only one 'o' in "lose". Augh.

Lose means that you didn't win.
Loose means the opposite of tight. The next time I see someone say loose when they mean lose, I may just turn homicidal. and uh yeah, the past tense of cost is cost, the past tense of cast is cast, etc... saying "costed" is like saying "boughten", WHERE THE FUCK did you get the extra letters from?

I'm close to turning homicidal because no one seems to care that words are spelled incorrectly on important documents and papers. What if the U.S. Constitution had incorrect spelling- "We them people of the United States of America. So wes could form a more perfict Uniun...". Well, you get the idea. We as a cuntry would be looked down upon due to our stupidity. SPELLCHECK ISN"T GRAMMARCHECK! Oh, and for those of you who write things out by hand- THERE"S SOMETHING CALLED A DICTIONARY! D-I-C-T-I-O-N-A-R-Y. You won't believe how many people don't even have one dictionary in their household.
