Default There she is!!!(flash animation + my little something)

A flash animation series has just come to its end. I wanted to thank the person who made me laugh and cry quite a bit. Placed before certain parts are the flash animations that are represented by those parts. Be sure to check them out to see if I managed to bring out the important aspects of that animation within my poem below. Happy journeying through more than 4 years of animation in the making. In green beforehand is something I wrote to the author on his BBS.

Here are the flash animations in question that the person made (or you can click on these same links below in the thank you message below in my text, these being only for quicker access for those who don't have time to read below).

This is what I wrote to the person who made these animations.

Here is a little something to say thank you one last time. It may not be as perfectly refined as your flash animations, and it doesn't rhyme as well as I would want it to, but here is a little something that I wrote after watching ''There She Is!! final step - Imagine''. I hope you like it.

There she is!

Here we stand after all this fun,
Now that all is said and done,
Could we ever try to see,
A work that has such sincere beauty.

And yet we know that all will be,
Deep within our hearts to free.
Contained inside memories,
Forever anchored by carrots and fishies. (the word fishies doesn’t exist, but for translation, it’s the word fish transformed so that it would rhyme. It could be a form of slang)

I call upon you one last time,
Journeyman of mine. (Amalloc being the journeyman, along with all those who helped him make ‘’There she is!’’)
To rock our lives,
And make us feel that life isn’t just made up of halves. (Often we see life in a good or a bad way, always forgetting that both always exist. When we are sad, happiness can exist. When we are happy, sadness still can come up.)

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/161181

Confusion seemed to be the first act,
That of step 1 as a matter of fact.
There were no others like it,
That blew the minds of those lost in violence and hate.

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/224148

Then came the aftermath of a sensation,
Vivid colors and fast paced action.
A race for friendship hand in hand,
Possibilities going beyond what had been possibly planned.

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/442805

Life went on and time went by,
Dust settled down yet our hopes were high.
You didn't give in after many hardships,
Love bloomed through your finger tips.
Without regrets all was gambled,
But consequences would soon follow.

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/456643

And then violence and hate showed its ugly face,
Pouring out of a society in disgrace.
Despair and frustration blinding their minds,
All seemed to be lost in confusion of all kinds,
But a twist of events brought something precious...

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/474311

Finally,
Courageously,
Masterfully,
Emotionally,
Truthfully,
You brought an end to it all.
Tears flowing freely with eyes set upon your final plea.
You have showed that all is not just darkness.
Nor did you show light at its brightest.
Simply the ups and downs of what life has to offer.
In the dreams that humanity shares,
Only one symbol can face all that is.
Faith in oneself.
Desire for better times.
Doing one's best.
Trusting those close to you.
Never giving up.

..and that event that you brought to all the WORLD,
Through the internet that is so vast.
This thing that none can go against that you brought us,
is...

HOPE

THE END

Comments?

P.S.: Since I didn't find a ''poetry'' section, I dub this thread a place to just check out this flash animation and if by any chance you wanna take a look at the secondary aspect of this post, the poem, you can always write something that you thought about it. There.

Beautifully done pieces of animation. I really enjoyed watching these. I'm not going to judge your poetry though, to each his own.

I remember these flash vids from years ago lol, and the new ones I just watched about a month ago. The first one is till my favorite, simply because of the originality to it, and at the same time, the truth to it.
Your poem is marvelous as well, a great tribute to a great artist and a great series.

I watched it December 12th where I live actually, but it just came out the 18th on Newgrounds where it could actually be seen by MUCH more people world wide compared to the official website that is much less visible in comparison.

That's why it's more important to get a message through where and when it counts. And it counts pretty much now

Bumping because I feel like it and because I'm feeling verbose at the moment.

I've loved this series since I found it in 2004. Sambakza takes the tired old Romeo/Juliet story and makes it exciting. The characters are so likable that you really want them to persevere through the hard times and be together through it all.

The first step sets the tone so wonderfully and really shows off what I, and I hope many others, appreciate about the series, its light-heartedness. This series isn't about making a political statement. It's way more timeless than that; and making any sort of statement would have made the series say more than it needed to.

The second step is honestly my favorite. This is where, to me, the music also began playing a major role in the story. The first step, as lovely as it was, was pretty unpolished compared to the rest of the series and this second step shows a sharp development curve for artistry, musical scoring, flow, etc. Again we were treated with a lighthearted romp where we got to see just how dedicated Doki (the rabbit) and Nabi (the cat) were to each other since the didn't actually confront each other until the end. We were introduced to a few new characters - mainly hindrances along Nabi's route which he fended off admirably. Doki also showed her love by quickly consuming the birthday cake brought by the adult rabbit. It was not from Nabi, therefore it was not the cake she would be celebrating with. The only way to get rid of it politely would be to consume it herself (although the manner with which she did that was hardly polite). When Nabi does arrive with the cake, one dainty bite sends Doki on her rampage to tackle her love and the step ends. I do find the end a little odd. It provides some foreshadowing into the negative aspects of the later steps as they are kicked out of the parlor when Doki is seen nuzzling Nabi's face. That seemed less light-hearted than it should have been, but it's still my favorite.

The third step is where I feel all the art of the flash had plateaued. It is visually stunning, the music is perfect, etc. The opening scene where Doki pops out of the box a rains hearts at Nabi like some wacky attack move is one of my favorite parts of the series. And I find something incredibly funny about that gigantic pile of trash left behind after the display. What I love about this step is how commonplace their first date is. A walk and a movie, how glamorous. Tolstoy tells us that we learn far more about people from their day-to-day actions than from momentous, life-changing events. Nothing that happened during their date would be all that "newsworthy" but I think we learn more about their true selves this way.

The fourth step I felt was somewhat of a wrong turn for the series. I loved it for its light-heartedness and that was completely cast aside for a much more somber and serious tone. The affect of black/white vs. colored was powerful and didn't come off as too obvious to me. I still like it but after seeing it a couple times this step just isn't as enjoyable as the others. A lot of the other steps had minute conflict in them, but that was just when Doki's eye's glowed and she wrecked everyone and tackled Nabi, which was cute and wonderful and everything this series was about. Because of this, this step almost feels incomplete. I guess part of it was to create more suspense for the final part, but all of the previous steps work as standalone pieces to me. This one only works as part of the series.

The fifth step ends the series perfectly. Doki and Nabi are back together and happy. We aren't bothered with unnecessary views into their future and the world hasn't magically changed to accept them. Fighting the fight is important, but when it comes to your personal feelings, the fight itself is irrelevant. Doki doesn't love cats, she loves Nabi, and vice-versa. Anything beyond that is meaningless. This message I feel "saves" the series after the fourth step, but for some reason that sounds harsher than I want it to be. I mean only that it provides the necessary resolution that the fourth step needed, and I felt that need was unnecessary. However it probably makes the series as a whole more powerful, I guess I just felt it didn't need to be all that powerful. I was happy with it when it was just a cute flash about a rabbit that loves a cat.

All in all this series really gave me an appreciation for flash as an art form. It has greatly affected me and it affects me emotionally every time I watch it. This series has set the standard for this kind of story and I hope it inspires many people. And I guess I just wanted to write this because I want other people to understand this piece for what it really is, a great work of art.
