[Suggestion] Good Counter

Autofail is a bit too harsh and restrictive sometimes, and it's hard to keep track of goods while playing harder songs (indeed, trying to keep track can sometimes provoke more goods). To alleviate this, I propose a good counter somewhere on the screen that shows how many goods have been gotten. A good counter would help one identify exact trouble spots and also give one more leeway than autofail, which must be adjusted manually again and again and isn't useful for someone just trying to gauge their ability. Thoughts? Edit: After much feedback, here is a revised proposition: We the People of FlashFlashRevolution.com, in Order to form a more perfect FFR The Game, establish Better PA, insure ease of use, provide for the common enjoyment of the game, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Synthlight (praised be His Name!) to ourselves and our Brethren, do ordain and establish this Proposition for the United Coalition of FFR Users. Article. I. Section. 1. Let there be established some sort of counter that shall display one's PA (Perfect Accuracy/Attack) in an easily readable format. Section. 2. Let this counter be in the form of a mask, allowing for the happiness of the enlightened who wish to use it as well as the heathens who, in their ignorance, do not see the benefit. Section. 3. Let this counter use the format: Perfect / Good / Average / Miss / Boo in different colors, by which one's respective counts can easily be distinguished and understood appropriately. Section. 4. Let this counter utilize "checkboxes" that will enable one to choose which counter options (out of P/G/A/M/B) one desires. Section. 5. Let this counter be displayed either in place of the current raw scoring or to the left or right of the Most Hallowed Pattern Arena, such that one does not have to go out of one's way to view the counter. This section is subject to further debate and discussion. Section. 6. Let this counter be accorded the status of "Most Important Future FFR Addition That Needs To Be Worked On Now" after the mythical "3rd Style," and let the Most Holy Synthlight be appeased as to make this most necessary addition. Edited because rushy pointed out a fatal mistake. Section. 7. Let this counter be first made in a raw form with all the accuracy options displayed as to quicken its release, with the "checkboxes" feature being added later as an update.

I think this is a pretty good idea, where would you place it... I'd be thinking subtle coloured lines in top left/right corner to represent them. That way you wouldn't really have to focus on it to know if you've gotten any... I (however much i suck) tend to look at my score at the bottom of the screen in a gap/easy part to see if it's even or not :/

Replace the word combo with good/s, and have the number count your goods.
When having 0 goods looks as though combo masking is on. Not sure how to clearly explain it, but I hope that made sense. That's just personally how I would like it, though you could do it like o2jam/beatmania and just put all the judgments in the bottom right. |

This kinda idea seems to pop up often, doesn't it...
I do think there should be some kind of added feature which gives you a better understanding of how you are doing, PA-wise, mid-song. I'm just not sure of what the best manifestation of that feature would be. |

It wouldn't distract me personally, but it would of course be on/off as TeRa has said.

Yeah, I always get goods looking at my score, it's so annoying and such a bad habit, which is why I started playing with my score hidden lol.

There was an idea like this presented in another thread a while back, with a slightly better idea. Rather than just having a good counter, the raw scoring at the bottom of your screen would be changed to your actual attack. I'm searching for the thread right now so I can give you guys an idea of what this looks like (sumzup, you actually posted in here. ). I can see how much this is starting to be wanted.
This kind of thing would be an awesome implementation into the game, but probably a really tough one too. |

Are you kidding me? Wow, apparently my memory is dying. :P Well, I guess some reinforcement of the idea doesn't hurt.
As for the graphic you posted, Halogen, that would probably be the best solution. I think almost everyone will agree that raw scoring is pretty much useless down there except for show (and checking for goods, but that's the whole point of this thread); I would much rather have it replaced by what's in the pic.

I don't think it would be very hard to implement considering it's already coded for MP how it shows your goods and all that while playing at the bottom. Then again it may have to be coded different, I don't have any knowledge with coding.

TC_Halogen, that looks cool, I'd set it up so that three digits are available for each window though (and four for perfects and combo) so that it doesn't shift around awkwardly when a new digit is added

Now we just need some admin feedback...
Also, maybe it could be a masking option (yay, another one!) where one could choose between raw scoring and the counter. Edit: Implementation of this feature would inevitably be subbies-only at first, and I can guarantee that this would result in an immediate subscription from me. That's how much I want it!

I remember Tass complaining in one thread about how he could never really keep track of his PA because he screen cuts, and that he would love if this got put in the game. Not sure if it will happen, but the p/g/a/m/b counter would be really cool.

It would be a good convenience to have, that way, we wouldn't have to do the math for figuring out our good counts in the middle of a song (causing us to get MORE goods). You can even keep track of an epic anti-PA run in the middle of your song. :P
