The tournament was extremely well run, no question about that. Minor issues always happen, but overall was definitely my second favorite FFR tournament to be a part of (no prizes for guessing what my favorite tournament was hint I ran it hehe)

just because they have done things for the community means they are exempt from the proper punishment? i hope you realize how ridiculous this is.

I will mention YoshL one more time: I am not going to be banning him. The others that sandbagged/alt accounted/botted were not banned, either (sand/alt'd: Monopsu, botted: Ninjacide).

Anyone who is calling preferential treatment -- I can easily bring up other circumstances with users right now that are receiving all sorts of lenience, so I absolutely do not want to hear it. At the very least, YoshL will receive a scorewipe. He will not be blacklisted. I've also told him personally that his eligibility for the 10th official might be affected. Given that I allowed a number of users that had botted/cheated in the past to play in this tournament, I will make that decision when the time comes to host the next official.

Forgive me for being a bit more lenient for someone who was also a massive help in getting this tournament up and running in the first place, because he was a part of the divisional placement team and he was also a reason why things went smoothly in placements thanks to his organization skills/spreadsheet manipulation.

I will address the other posts a bit later, but I absolutely wanted to get that post out there.

I hope you also use his Carol Channing accent.

"Well it's as dry and barren as I am."
"I'M SPARTACUS."
"I know what you're thinking. Did I fire seven shots or six? Well to tell you the truth in all the confusion I've forgotten myself. So you have to ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky? Do ya?"
"Am I bleeding?"

I'd like to say that I watch too much WLIIA, but that's impossible.

Favorite skit was when Ryan smacked his head on the light. Was for the greater good of comedy.

this type of inconsistency probably makes a site's administrative policies seem less legitimate in the eyes of the site's users. that applies to this case and to any other case.

I'm trying to take an impersonal approach here. if I weren't, I would be saying "0 punishment + give cookies" but that probably isn't the most appropriate action.

It's a frustrating situation for me, personally. I'm being put under fire for inconsistencies that aren't my fault. Either way -- as I said, I have no intentions of letting him off scot-free.

I have people over today, and I have to work tomorrow, so prizes won't be completely distributed tonight.

People make mistakes, no harm was done. I don't see a reason to continue pushing it further. Given the rarity of the occurrence what exactly is the harm in punishment on a case-by-case basis. I'd rather see someone let off light because of their intent/previous actions and impact within the community rather than strictly ban people by a black and white, rules are rules type system. Score wipe, possibly disqualified from next tournament, and a mark against their reputation. Thats certainly anything but a light slap on the wrist.

And as far as placement goes, with the exception of a handful of individuals, several hundred were placed correctly. If you feel like it could be done better, then suggest how or volunteer to help next time because complaining at one person for many peoples work isn't exactly helping.

That being said, a small change to the structure could help alleviate some of these issues. Like a standardised measure anyone can use to determine division (like a list of files/scores per div not unlike the tier point system) and some anti-sand bagging incentives. Some rewards/badges/prestige or what have you for being placed in a higher division to make it feel more like a milestone and less like a punishment/getting set back to the bottom of an even higher mountain to climb.
