Re: Songs of the Week (September 22, 2012)
Xanthystramua's 24th bursts are really neat and actually bring about a tricky technique for trying to nail them by jumptrilling - it's a tad bit unorthodox. However, that goddamn 32nd burst near the end of the file is ridiculous because of conversion...
maybe I'll get it when I wake up, haha. Playing all of the others right now. Intersect Thunderbolt: Feels a little hard for a 67. Chart is sexy as hell, though. Reminders: Pretty alright. Not a bad chart by any means and despite the length, was pretty enjoyable. Hello: Really nice job, megamon. Definitely will be playing this on my leisurely time when trying to boost my grand score, because that was really fun. Sightread two goods, one on the first split 32nd roll that caught me off guard, and the second on the 8th jacks at around 1000 because I'm too tired to keep steady, lol I'll play the rest when I wake up in a few hours. Xanthystrauma's one of those songs where you think you're playing alright, and then the ending just blasts your PA away. Seriously.

Re: Songs of the Week (September 22, 2012)
So I saw "In An Instant" has one tiny spot which might make new players go "WHAT."
It's those grace notes in the middle of the song. Kind of goes in your face if you're a new player. Pretty nice chart though. By the way, Xanthystrauma is pretty fun... those jacks though... Oh, and +1 for difficulty dump for Intersect Thunderbolt. Very jacky and easy to trip, haha.

Re: Songs of the Week (September 22, 2012)
mfw Xanthy ending starts
Intersect I put up as 67 because it reminded me of an ever-so-slightly easier version of Dance and Zeal, which is sitting at 68. Most of the file is 8th note chaining, and the streams are fast, but short and comfortable. Wouldn't be against a bump up to 68/69 though. Last edited by One Winged Angel; 09-22-2012 at 03:40 AM.. |

Re: Songs of the Week (September 22, 2012)
Danzai: I couldn't take this seriously hahaha bakbakbabakbkabkbkab
Reminders: Really fun, although it did seem too drag on long (mostly because of the song, which is really nice but also monotonous). But mainly really fun In An Instant: Hooray for more Flashbulb! Steps were a perfect match, a great beginner's file diametrically opposite in style to last week's Flashbulb-Of-The-Week. Hello: Well the song is awful (the original is much better lol) but the steps are pretty nice and go with the song, I guess. A pity it won't matter since I'll be playing this sound-off in the future haha Intersect Thunderbolt: Ehh it was ok (and also probably too hard for a 67 as Halogen mentioned, maybe.) Xanthystrauma: Fun - probably a blessing in disguise I'm not good enough to be seriously concerned about having a rly good PA on this, so it's just a nice playthrough from where I am.

Danzai: Song choice doesn't let me have fun
Hello (Luke Da Duke Remix): From the beginning I didn't expect to have as much fun as a did. Gr8 steps. Ties All Y'all Bitches as favorite file by you. Intersect Thunderbolt: Hate the file in stepmania. Hate it even more on FFR. Reminders: Fun patterns mixed with a pretty solid song choice. Kinda long, but I can see myself playing it again. Xanthystrauma: I've never had so much fun sucking. Song is sick, props to Scylax, and chart is fun. MN, I love u. |

Re: Songs of the Week (September 22, 2012)
If possible, I think that both 432432432431421321321321 24th streams around 1300/1400c in Xanthystrauma should have their frames tweaked so that they share identical frame placements. As it is currently, the first stream is significantly easier to PA given that there are more one frame gaps between the up and right arrows, making it possible to PA while jumptrilling. The second stream has two frame gaps between the up and right arrows and one frame gaps between the down and up arrows, rendering jumptrilling much more difficult despite being the exact same pattern.
I'd take pics comparing the two but it's 6am lol |

In an Instant is a nice soft warmup, I can't play the rest because I ****ed up my left index finger and can't play to full potential using semi-pettanko (middle/ring).
I'll review them once I heal, lmao

Re: Songs of the Week (September 22, 2012)
Danzai Yamaxanadu: This was a pretty fun file that flowed pretty nicely. Also, it's pretty easy for a Veteran song.
Hello (Luke Da Duke Remix): This one was fun (except the jacks got me at the beginning). In An Instant: Nice, easy file and is really fun. Did anyone else have trouble with the score recording on this one because I did? Intersect Thunderbolt: Wow kommisar, your charts are insane! This one was fun but pretty fast paced and difficult. Reminders: This is a nice song which the stepfile flows really nicely with. Xanthystrauma: Holy sh*t. This file is insane. Those handjacks at the beginning are pure evil and the insanity builds up from there. |

Re: Songs of the Week (September 22, 2012)
Xanthystrauma: Very fun, proving to be a really good warmup/PA challenge. Great work MarioNintendo! 7/10
Reminders: This was fun, really enjoyed the rolls around 760. The piano at the end was begging to be stepped though. Would play it again. 6/10 In an Instant:: I really, really enjoyed this file. Fantastically stepped Mr Pops! 8/10 Danzai Yamaxanadu!: lmao wtf the singer. was gonna give this a 5/10 because not a fan of song but good file, but this get's a 7/10 because 460 combo i died of laughter. Hello (Luke Da Duke Remix): this was tons of fun, I think this is my favorite release of yours, mega. 8/10 Intersect Thunderbolt: I love you Kommisar. These are the kinds of files we need in FFR, I could play this all day. The steps fit the song so well, they flow great, I couldn't ask for better. 9/10 Overall, this was a great release, would like to see more like this.
