Chopsticks vs. Forks
I prefer forks because you can get a nice shoveling motion going and finish your food faster. Also they are a 1 piece tool, and are more reusable then a wooden chopstick. Just wash dry and reuse. Also you don't have to "learn" how to use a fork, it's rather self explanatory and it's much easier to spool up noodles.

Re: Chopsticks vs. Forks

Re: Chopsticks vs. Forks
I feel like this isn't a question of preference, but really is a question of:
"Do you frequently eat Asian foods that require chopsticks?" because certain foods are better left with forks, while some are chopstick material. |

Re: Chopsticks vs. Forks
I walked around Korea with a family, getting the grand tour of five cities and the DMZ. The mother kept a fork on hand for going to restaurants because I couldn't handle chopsticks.

Re: Chopsticks vs. Forks
I find puncturing my food a lot easier than trying to hold on to it with two sticks. I don't really care if it is more "barbaric", I believe it is more efficient.

I like chopsticks more, only because I love watching myself fail with them while others use them with ease.

Re: Chopsticks vs. Forks
This really isn't a great poll because you're comparing apples and oranges. Forks and and chopsticks have different uses that don't always intersect. For instance, you'd use chopsticks for rice and noodles, but you don't use it for pie, unlike a fork. If both utensils had more shared applications, it would be a better poll.

Re: Chopsticks vs. Forks
Depends. I turned it into a habit to use chopsticks instead of a fork when eating Japanese food.
Anything else I use a fork/spoon. |

Also I believe forks and chopsticks have many many shared applications, name one thing chopsticks can do that forks can not. The point is they are both eating utensils but forks overall have the upper hand. If I were in a rice eating contest with an average chopstick user and I was a fork user I bet I would win speed wise. For me it doesn't really matter that other people think of a fork as barbaric, it's way more efficient than chopsticks and I think forks will rule the world one day. Re: Chopsticks vs. Forks
Any time that I eat asian foods I'll use chopsticks, but mostly I use fork at home.
Chopsticks are funny to use though, and if I could eat everything with them I damn well would do it.
