I think Bull of Heaven is conceptually incredible, but that's it. I see them as artists of the sound. Their statistics and numbers always have amazed me, but in a musical perspective, it just seems very bland.
Don't worry, I can be pretentious too.
Most of Bull of Heaven are indeed... empty and devoid of any life but there are some exceptions. (you can't make 400 albums without having 1-2 worth of interest)

143 has some pretty intense Noise/Stoner/Sludge passages. It's a pretty contrasting release and the variations of sounds are intricates.

123 is even better. The production takes a step for the better while some passages are probably the best I've ever heard from them. It's more progressive than their usual stuff and they were able to create a unique sound, between post-rock and drone.

Level 5, but now I find out about the level 8 stuff and they sound rather nice. Well I was never social to begin with anyways.

Lot of interesting posts in this thread, loved them. Esp the quarter tone. The bull thing was kinda weird, seemed like some Guinness shenanigans.
