Just play until your fingers fall off. Trying playing really hard songs in the 70-100 range, even if you fail 1 million times. Then when you go back to play the lower leveled songs, they'll seem way easier.

I'm the outlier in playstyle because I play hybrid spread (efji, thko, wdgy, scbh etc.,)

play hard songs even if you do bad and try to improved based on percentage rather than rank or score.

Also, play frequently.

Anyways, the back to the actual thread:

Don't be afraid to analyze your replays. They're one hell of a useful tool. Find the replay to frame comparison thread and have a few done for songs with small things you struggle in.

Figure out what patterns you are and aren't doing decently on, and find some charts for those and play them. It sucks, you'll get mad, but you'll improve by just reading what you're doing and trying to fix errors you make in execution. You can read 300 bpm jumpstream, and you can bull shit a lot of the nasty parts, but you're not really working on your technique, which FFR is a game that is really reliant on HOW you do things rather than just playing it millions of times till you get it right.

And yeah, play a lot and play harder stuff that's uncomfortable. Then go down and you'll find it's a lot easier.

Use a spread setup (explained above).
Warm up before each session.
Don't play when you're tired or very hungry.
Play regularly, but not more than three days in a row. An average of one one-two hour session every two days is good.
Try to play later in the night.
Play files that will be a stretch for you to FC. Try to hit as many arrows as you can accurately even in hard patterns -- do not "mash" any hard patterns. If you need to keep mashing to play a file, play an easier file.
Play StepMania.

Find the difficulty of a song you're comfortable FCing, use the random function to choose a song that is between the range of the song's difficulty that you're comfortable with +10 +/- 5. (so if you're comfortable FCing 35s, choose a random song between the range of 45 +/- 5 or 40-50. Repeat til the upper bound is 99

this isnt necessarily true because if all you play are songs that are totally out of your range as a player, you will develop bad habits as well as terrible timing

plus it really doesnt help that much if you have trouble reading said files or you dont even have the skills for them

This still holds some merit, after a break you could lose all the mental blocks and bad habits you gained. Although you'll lose speed and stamina. Maybe even some reading ability. But nothing you can't easily regain with some sessions.

This is very true indeed. I quit and came back and I AAA'd a song I could never seem to do, however, I had to drop my speed down from 1.7 to 1.35 and can't FC CIA Rave anymore. (It was my favorite song to play for the longest time)

I know what I did last time to get at my prime, I went and FC'd every song I could possibly do. And even if you feel you can't do that certain song, keep trying. And if you feel you can do better on a song, give it another play, it wouldn't hurt to do.
Another thing is, strive for AAA's. Get as many as you can. Just keep replaying and replaying if you mess up. If you go for perfects a lot, that'll get into your mind to understand how it works and how it doesn't.
