Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
Good, the 24th ending in My Fuckin Desire For You was fixed to 16ths
Also it's certainly at least a mid FGO, but I haven't had a full run on it yet... there are some 8th anchor parts like at the very end of the last fast stream that are hard to manage. |

My Fxxkin Desire For You
Layering problems throughout the song. better to step more prominent stuff like the vocals. by only stepping perc, it's like you could have just subbed a metal song, not a miku metal song (song choice-- as well objectivemanias) sticking to snares layering pretty much the whole way through the song ruins alot, there's plenty of other options you could have used, vocals (again), or even the crashes at the end of the phrase (better completes a musical thought). Also, randomly chosen guitar sounds to layer in? Lots of misrhythms and stuff. Cymbal flare in the mid-beginning feels strange. Some of the individual bass kicks inbetween phrases should be 16ths (from what I can hear). That piano slowdown in the mid-end was probably the lowest point in the piece, decision wise. It just didn't feel like i was playing the piano part. Then you decided to ditch the piano, going back to percussion (bad choice imo), because the piano is the seperator for this section and the sections before and after, it just makes the chart feel wrong. Ending difficulty spike lol

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
YoshL a lot of files in the current batch are like that actually: Layering barely audible sounds in the quiet parts of the song to make jumps (even hands!), or just resorting to percussion layering that makes the file bland and lose its potential to make something interesting.

Damn... this sounds like a start of a great discussion, dohoho.
Also, my favorite this week is Rising Blue Lightning. Not because it's a SSH song, but it plays wonderfully. Nice one hi19! As for My Fxxcking Desire. It's okay, nothing totally wrong with it. Flows pretty nicely for me. That ending is just fucking BRUTAL though, holy shit. |

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
Oh yeah, I'm going to say bump it down to 84... maybe. Possibly 83!
EDIT: Yeah, I understand. Still though, sounds like a great start to this thread. I predict explosions! |

should instantiate something like a penalty to your next batch scores for being a whiny prick to judges for dumb reasons (including the ban of course)

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
You guys know I'm not a Middie fanboy or anything but I actually find the file really fun, spike ending and everything.
Also leaning towards 84 atm as well, just hesitant to place it there given the ending jumpstream speed compared to other files around that difficulty (Kidney Stone is constant 210bpm for a much longer pace, MFDFY is 240bpm [a huge jump up] for 8 bars) |

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
i somewhat liked middie's file when i judged it
it was actually surprising that he stepped the jumpstream fluently

Oh yeah, the song style is completely empty. I also think it should be under Rock.

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
MFDFY has way harder patterns at the end stream than A Kidney Stone along with being 30 BPM faster. It's definitely at least one point up from A Kidney Stone.

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
mfdfy is lame. awkward jumpstream ending with lolonehand minitrill randomly at the end.
ok, that random 8th jack in the long jumpstream was either missed or just stupid.

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
Also the jumpstream patterns in MFDFY might have been fine in Stepmania, but on FFR they are VERY split heavy. They're roll-esque right next to each other, so it's kind of like doing 3 note 32nd bursts instead of the jumps from how it actually plays.
Also, this is just stupid. |

Re: Songs of the Week (July 26, 2013)
the patterns in that section exist because midnight decided he wanted 4321 4321 esque rolls to be fluent
but he layered some additional stuff so it became 3[24]1[23]4[12]3[24]1[23] basically a roll..... with awkward jumps in between which is rly dumbaee..
