Your top nostalgic/emotional songs?
Idk if a thread like this has been made yet, too lazy to search.
Do you have any song that literally makes you emotional or in tears ? Talkingf about songs that not just for a few weeks affect you, but songs that has made you emotional for years. Anyways here's mine: Secret Garden - Nocturne, the only instrumental song to have ever won the Eurovision Song Contest, it does have a few lines to make sure it qualified for the contest however. This musical piece is absolutely amazing. Childhood tv-show/anime 2:22 to the end 1:14, The clip from LOTR: Two Towers where Gandalf stands atop the hill and the seemingly hopeless situation is saved.... can't forget this, Tears of Life, from the scene in the first pokemon movie where the main character (Ash) sacrifices himself and dies (temporary) From The Land Before Time, another childhood song. I used to watch this movie together with my mother a lot of times The intro song of this movie is also very, VERY nostalgic/emotional to me: from 5:36 Kinda weird story behind this, I was in love and me and my girlfriend at the time watched this movie all the time and we planned to have kids and whatnot, sigh. Still one of the best movies ever made imo. I still remember the happiness when I realized you can go to kanto in Gold/Silver, this song is a orchestral remix of the route theme that leads to kanto Pokemon League from Johto Probably a few more but I can't remember them on top of my head. |

Re: Your top nostalgic/emotional songs?
Nostalgic:
I've been replaying this game recently actually. I love this song and wish there was a good orchestral remix I could chart for FFR. Emotional: The main context is late in Battle Network six near the end of the game. I was gonna pick a KHII song but honestly it felt too recent. Nostalgic and emotional: ^ This one because more than pokemon related reasons. AAAing the remix in FFR for the first time, and having to do it a lot more in a row was just, uhg. Also I played the ever living shit out of these games. This theme was the most hype shit ever. Fuck Blue's theme. I think my Nintendo fanboy is showing. :/ Last edited by XelNya; 01-7-2015 at 02:53 AM.. |

Pretty much any song from Final Fantasy 7 is near perfection to me for listening/emotional value, just because they are made so ridiculously well, but the one that tops most of them are the Prelude Remasters.

Re: Your top nostalgic/emotional songs?
d|lp 6 has an interesting synesthesia-fueled nostalgia associated with it
have you ever had the feeling of relief when you finally remember a memory after trying for so long to pin it down? basically, d|lp 6 conjures up that feeling and I can see myself setting on a bus in vegas, trying to recall an old memory. it's like, "yeah I remember that but what happened before that" |

Re: Your top nostalgic/emotional songs?
I don't have songs that make me cry, but I do have songs that give me goosebumps.
Schubert - Serenade This is on my "play this when I die, please"-list Aimer - Dare ka, umi wo (Zankyou no Terror ED) I get goosebumps all over the place from this ED, but especially at "tadoritsuku watage no" where she trembles with her voice. Hanne Hukkelberg - The Pirate Hanne Hukkelberg is and most likely will stay my favourite singer. It's hard for me to choose a favourite. Most of her songs give me goosebumps, but this one does it multiple times. Robert Wyatt - Alifib I said "most likely" for a reason, Robert Wyatt's voice and usage of sound is a close second. I'll save you the long instrumental intro. Bach - Mass in B Minor "Agnus Dei" Since I started with a classical piece, I'll end with one. I'm not a fan of opera singers, let alone sopranos, but this is an exception. I guess I love eerie music. Last edited by SKG_Scintill; 01-7-2015 at 08:49 AM.. |

Re: Your top nostalgic/emotional songs?
There aren't too many tracks that I listen to that give off a nostalgic vibe, maybe except for this one:
Nobuo Uematsu - Someday The Dream Will End Very very obvious pick honestly, FFX is one of my favourite RPGs and video games of all time and I still remember the excitement I had when I was playing it five to six years ago. This track pretty much sums up the entire game and my experience from the game as a whole. Majestic, memorable but at the same time sombre. This isn't my favourite track from the FFX OST, but it's the most memorable one. Other tracks are mainly more emotional more than anything else - I'll just link three tracks that I've felt a lot of emotion to for a very long time - maybe a year or more. Tenmon - Yuki no Eki 5 Centimeters Per Second is my all-time favourite anime and movie, and I think the 5cm/s OST is the best anime soundtrack out there. This track has always stood out to me as a very very heart-tugging piece, right from the intro. It's like music at the end of a long period of depression, a light at the end of the tunnel, a warm welcome from your family after a long separation. That's what the track really screams out to me, it's an extremely heartwarming track from the get-go and it dissolves to form this atmosphere of subtle bliss. William Basinski - The Garden of Brokenness This one is a little hard to talk about - especially since it's so minimal. I've always pictured this track as an unchanging small patch of land with a undetailed house without a door and olive flooring on this patch of land. There's no way of getting out of that patch of land, neither is there a way to get in. For me, while the land is completely barren, is complete serenity to me. The relaxation and absolute silence is nothing short of beautiful. The track becomes claustrophobic eventually, while the scenery is still the same as always, it gives off these vibes that make me feel uncomfortable - almost to the point of anxiety. Trying to get out of the scenery makes it worse, because there isn't one. I close my eyes and I try to imagine that it isn't happening, but I occasionally wake up and see that I'm still in the same area. KASHIWA Daisuke - The Unexclusive Virus Pretty much the same as The Garden of Brokenness, in a sense that it's hard to describe because it's so minimal. I've described it as "ideal music for a couple sitting at the edge of a rooftop watching the sun set and watching the world continue to drone with its work, watching blue-collared workers from a far distance doing what they're supposed to do", but it feels so much more than that. Its ambiguity is probably what makes this track so special to me - it's a very flexible track. I can listen to it in the morning and imagine a scenery where I'm next to someone that I deeply care about soundly asleep, and I'm just there looking at him or her smiling, sitting down next to him/her with a subtle smile, happy that he/she's there next to you. I could go on and on about how the track is so emotional and beautiful, but it'd probably take a very long time for me to talk about the track. I guess the main thematic would be either very bleak albeit painless depression, or simply a subtle moment of happiness. Anyway, this is one of my favourite tracks. Although I don't listen to this anywhere as much as many other tracks, it's definitely a track that I've treasured for a very long time. Last edited by EzExZeRo7497; 01-7-2015 at 10:40 AM.. |

Various renditions of Bach's Double Violin Concerto in D Minor - 2nd movement. This one is my favorite:
