How do I improve at FFR?
So recently I've been practicing FFR, and I completely forgot that I suck at keyboard charts.
I'm pretty good at pad streaming charts, however, when it comes to something like Nothing's Gonna Stop Me v2, I'm not so great at it. What I'm saying is: How do I improve at FFR/those kind of charts? The overuse of jumps and hands can get kind of weird to me, and sometimes I can't keep up. I'd love some tips on how to get better, and where to start. Thanks!

Re: How do I improve at FFR?
If you don't like ffr's strict preference for their specific way of making files, you can try downloading stepmania and finding charts that match your playstyle better, and just gradually increase the difficulty of those types of charts by increasing the bpm via song selection. (and rate modifier)
Of course you can stick with ffr entirely if that's really what you want. You can still play stepmania charts on ffr thanks to FFRMania and other engines, although there's not as big of a selection. If you realllllly want to just stick to ffr's selection of charts and songs, there's not too much wiggle room here for improving. Get good at jumpstream, jacks, bursts, speed, and stamina. Shoot for Perfects only no matter what song you play (aka just try your hardest) Overall do what's most fun for you. With enough practice you'll eventually become better.

Re: How do I improve at FFR?
what helped me, with some good improvement is just trying to FC every file from a category. I I have FC'd everything up to lvl 73 songs in the ''dance'' genre. It definitely helped me improve because when I started trying to FC, I was still having a hard time with lvl 50's etc.

AAA like 2-5 songs in your comfort zone. Then play a few songs that are outside of your comfort zone (go for FC, or good PA). Repeat.

Play outside of comfort zone as a warm up. Play within comfort zone as the bulk of the time you spend playing. Play outside the comfort zone again as a closer. |

Re: How do I improve at FFR?
Pick a high speedmod, the highest you can see without freaking out. Now go find a sport/activity or anything that could help you generate some adrenaline like running. Play the hardest song you can get under 100 goods on. Turn sound off, pay attention to your fingers keytaps, make sure you don't bottom out the keys completely and use the lowest amount of energy possible to hit keys, get a mech keyboard or something good. Fix lag if you have any with standalone guide. Now that you got your song that gives you under 100 goods. Sit down, ask yourself why do I get goods. Isolate patterns and experiment until you manage to get a better score. Repeat the process and tune how you play until AAA. Good luck.

I disagree with the speed mod thing. 2.2x isn't the highest I can read but it's comfortable in terms for me to AAA songs. I feel like you need to find your sweet spot, but that can take awhile.

Re: How do I improve at FFR?
keep playing what you're bad at. try to make it a goal to play files with more hands + jumps in every session you play.
don't just play the files you like or are comfortable with or else you'll be an unbalanced player. like me how jacks do??? like xelnya and mahou said, you need to always be playing files outside your comfort zone, so once you do get used to nothing's gonna stop me v2, find a file that feels like nothing's gonna stop me v2 on steroids. if you don't, you'll plateau at some point. finding files like that gets a little harder to do once you reach a certain skill level, and that's when you start looking at things like alt engines or SM. don't let a couple bad days keep you from playing the game. don't let frustration get to you. improvement takes time.
