Anyone here create stepfiles?
Theres this song I really want made into a stepfile for stepmania. Its like remixed classical music. Sounds like it could be a pretty dope stepfile. I'd ask how could i make one, but from what i understand it takes a shit ton of effort and a good sense of timing. From a guy that cant go a song without getting a lot of greats and some goods, i probably wouldn't be able to do it even if i knew how.
Anyone here able to make them though? If so, to save time if you're up for the job, heres the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBerCD03kv4 Edit: If you do make this (which would be AMAZING) try to include a level 15-17 difficulty if possible (To give an example of the difficulty I want, something in the range of the dragonforce songs) Last edited by CbmGraphics; 02-6-2016 at 02:57 AM.. |

Re: Anyone here create stepfiles?
Hey CbmGraphics!
I just finished listening to the song, and I'm not entirely sure what you hear in this song that sounds like "remixed classical music"... :P But anyway, the song is great, and indeed could make a great stepfile! I have to admit you are having the wrong attitude, here. Quote:
Also, when you think about it, everyone has to start somewhere. Do not be afraid to step a "bad" file. 1) Everybody's first file (except alt accounts) is always terrible, no exception. Everyone has to start somewhere! Then again, this file is very important because it helps you gain tons of experience, which will become useful when comes the time to step your second file! 2) My first file was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John, where I synced it by ear. It was a badly synced snoozefest. You can't do much worse than me as a first file, so don't worry about that. 3) If you are willing to try it out yourself (which I once again really recommend!!), I suggest you check out this video I made about DDReamStudio: DDReamStudio is what the majority of steppers use these days, because it is both much more intuitive and powerful than the Stepmania editor. Just believe in yourself, take the time to understand how the program works (it really is not that bad! I swear!) If you give yourself the time you learn, before you know it you'll have stepped 4 files instead of waiting 2 weeks for someone to step your song in a way you dislike. |

Re: Anyone here create stepfiles?
Not much going on in this song for stepping. Pretty repetitive, which is bad for making an interesting file. Would need to be cut very well, something few people are good at and even fewer are willing to do.
About difficulty: A "normally layered" file for this would be pretty easy. 20s on FFR would be my guess. If you layered as aggressively as you could (using things such as short jacks to the vocal effects and jumps/hands to pretty much every sound in the song besides quiet hi-hats) while still making a file quality enough to say, get accepted to FFR or put in a reputable pack, I still doubt it would hit FMO (66+) in difficulty by FFR standards. Maybe someone skilled at making the most cancerous patterns possible could prove me wrong, but I for one would probably not want to play that if you made it lol If you want harder than that but still "musically justified" you would pretty much have to dump streams/bursts to the wub sounds. Which I guess could be cool if done right but would NOT be easy to pull off well. "15-17" means nothing to me because there's dozens of different scales people use. Thankfully, whether you mean old era Dragonforce 200bpm stream files difficulty or more recent Dragonforce dense JS files difficulty doesn't matter, because it's going to be extremely hard to match the former and straight impossible to match the latter in non-dump difficulty using this song. My 2c

Re: Anyone here create stepfiles?
That said, I actually think that if someone took the time to cut this song really nicely, it would make for an incredible easier file. Something in the 20s to high 30s range on FFR to this would be a lot of fun.
Cool song.

Re: Anyone here create stepfiles?
Also this song would make for a great first file if you were to learn stepping.
Go for it, no better person to make the file you have in mind than yourself! Hell, prove me wrong and make a legit hard file out of this song, I'd love to see it. It sounds constant bpm, probably 130ish EDIT- Yeah it's 128 bpm at first, but it's actually not constant BPM because the sampling in it is not perfect. It jumps to 129.165 bpm randomly halfway through the song lol Here's some sync for you, go nuts man:
