Tics
Most people have them. I'm sure that the average keyboard smasher and arrow annihilator has them, too. What are your tics, strange habits, things you do that you do while barely even realizing it, etc.?
As for me, I meow sometimes. It's kinda random, I do it when I'm in an affectionate mood. I'm not sure how weird it is. Also I tend to lean my head on my left fist as I browse the interwebs, occasionally rubbing a bit over the very left endpoint of my left eye with my index finger.

Re: Tics
When I become concious of my thumb as I play, I suddenly can't concentrate on any file.

Re: Tics
I jerk my head like I'm trying to pop my neck a lot when I get stressed, it's a good visual key for other people that if I'm doing it really often, I'm getting frustrated.
I have an oral fixation so I like to chew on things, caps, fingers, etc. |

Re: Tics
i involuntarily muscle spasm multiple times a day in the muscle that connects my right shoulder to the lower right part of my neck (where it meets the back) it causes me to tilt my head right and scrunch up my right shoulder at the same time for a couple seconds.
it catches a lot of people off guard i also more frequently have to "crack" my back by sitting up and tensing my shoulders too and that looks weird to others as well i recently have been visiting a neurologist and have gotten an MRI to see if there was an overt problem with my nervous system but nope, it turns out these tics and twitches are coming from my medications. and my meds work great so i dont want to change them, so i'm just gonna deal with it

Re: Tics
twitching of the foot, slowly edging myself closer and closer to the monitor, and pulling the keyboard towards myself during tough parts. During any silence I have to crack my knuckles, even if they are already cracked.
Oh this isn't for just FFR. Last edited by Pseudo Enigma; 06-24-2013 at 04:03 PM.. |

Re: Tics
I don't don't have any kind of physical habits, but I get really annoyed at random sounds and I can't do anything about it.

Re: Tics
If I'm tired or stressed I twirl my hair around my fingers
Also, when playing FFR, during long/hard songs, the pinky finger on my right hand curls and tenses up really badly. although, once I finally notice it, it becomes EXTREMELY hard to focus on the file. |

Re: Tics
whenever i accidentally hit the caps lock key while playing FFR/Stepmania i will try to turn it off while still playing
i always move my neck, feet, shoulders, fingers around a lot in order to crack them like hundreds of times per day

Re: Tics
I also meow occasionally without meaning to. Have severe muscle spasms that make me jerk violently. Probably the most unique one though..I rub my keys circularly when I'm playing on a song with a long wait before the first note.

Also sometimes I do the circling rubbing thing too, but more often I'll randomly perform index+ring finger trills on the part next to the touchpad on my laptop as I wait for the first note.
