I remember this problem from many years ago when I used to play, help?
So I just felt like popping back into FFR after several years hiatus. And one of the big issues I've had for a long time was when a song is first loaded and starting up, and often when restarting, there will be a terrible frame lag, making it really hard to read the notes coming, and if scroll is high enough, might miss them entirely.
Whether it was back in the day on browser, or now in the standalone (RIP Flash), For generally the first half of a song I've ALWAYS, since day 1 playing this game, experienced this problem, and I'm wondering if there is some fix. It has happened across several different PCs, several different versions, and I don't understand why it happens, or why other people don't seem to complain about it. Any advice? ADENDUM: I know sometimes if I keep letting the song play through and restart it about 10+ times, it will eventually fix itself, and I can start from the beginning with a fresh, clean scroll... but I shouldn't have to futz with it like to enjoy the game, yeah?

So is it that when the song starts there's no notes, then all of a sudden all the notes that would've been there come scrolling all at once? Because if so I did have this problem a long time ago, but it would only ever happen when my headphones (or other audio device) disconnected in the middle of a song.

No, it's just like the entire game is dropping frames, and the FPS is jumping between 5-15 fps, and it takes quite a while for it to level out and get back to normal.
It doesn't happen every single time, but it happens frequently, and it's incredibly obnoxious.

If I'm not completely wrong, there could be many reasons ranging from send/recive buffer sizes, CPU thread prioritization; obsolete/redundant operating system policies or settings for firewall, battery prefs, display prefs, security, cookies; caches for DNS, internet, event logs, cookies/policy, remote updates;
Wouldn't hurt to boot in network-safe mode or flush DNS or lower graphic performance levels to favor battery life; or even toggle preferences from program performance to background service performance Whatever you do, just be careful. I believe you can debug your machine, get FFR running smoothly, and learn a whole lot, as well.
