That would be prominent.

Also, I found out that Fether doesn't allow redistribution of material.

And according to bmah, Fether=nekomimi mahoutsukai (which I doubt)...

*Fervently studying the audacity manual x.x

I have a drafted song list for OSTER Project. I'll post it when I'm done, and you can copy paste. The song list contains: title, genre, author's comments, fun facts.

Planning to add BPM, but I'm not really good at that. I will make a list for all the artists I can make a list for.

As I said, ask Rebirth0 about that.

I also found it strange that on fether's site, he/she made a song called "seagull". If you look at the Toy Musical 2 website, you'll find that same song, except that fether put his/her name under the alias "NEKOTEK" in reference to the song he remixed (originally a pop'n song called penguin by NAKATEK)[http://toymusical.bms.ms/tm2/music/info/spirit.html]. Either it's a coincidence or NEKO- from NEKOTEK = Nekomimi.

Finally, where did you find out about Fether not allowing redistribution of his/her songs? And what about the songs already on FFR?

Well, redistribution could mean offering another download location. FFR does not distribute the music as there is no way to download (easily).

再配布は禁止ってコトで = redistribution is prohibited. directly from his home page.

Yes, NEKOTEK=Fether. However, nekomimi mahoutsukai is not Fether.

Okay, I've stripped out the latest updates, since they're in the main summary thread. To replace, I've got this explanation on what VOCALOID is, and why it tends to come up a lot in this thread.

About VOCALOID

History

VOCALOID is a synthesis engine created by YAMAHA, publicly announced March 4th 2003 [1]. The technology behind VOCALOID mainly involved the input of lyrics, and having them associated with different vocal libraries, creating the effect of someone singing the lyrics [2]. The first release of VOCALOID were the "LEON" and "LOLA" series, distributed by Zero-G UK in January of 2004[3]. Unfortunately, they weren't a very big hit to the dismay of YAMAHA. In an interview with the online Japanese IT news site IT Media, company president Itou Hiroyuki (伊藤博之) suggests a few reasons [4]:

Quote:
"「LEON」と「LOLA」がコケた理由は、いろいろ考えられる。音にこだわりのあるDTM(Desk Top Music)のコアユーザーをターゲットにしたこと、英国英語が米国人に受けなかったこと、パッケージが"唇"だったこと。"
Quote:
"I've thought of many reasons why LEON and LOLA were not such a great success. Was it that the sound was prejudice to DTM (Desk Top Music) users? That Americans were not found of the England originating English? That the package was simply that of a pair of lips?"
(Rough Translation)

YAMAHA did further improvements to the engine, and released MIRIAM in July of 2004 [5]. This did create a bit more publicity, with the popular UK magazine MUSIC TECH running an article on the product. However, one thing still remained as a challenge for the YAMAHA engine:

Quote:
"One thing is clear, though: this product is just like an instrument, requiring time, patience and practice in order to get the best from it, so perhaps the biggest challenge facing Zero-G right now is in educating us, the users, towards the better Vocaloid technique."
In November, unknown as to whether the article promoted this action, YAMAHA released a short users guide on their site [7]. Things remained somewhat settled, until the release of a new VOCALOID by the Japanese company Crypton Future Media, Inc (http://www.crypton.co.jp/) called MEIKO [8]. This time though, Crypton decided to do things differently. Instead of doing the "lip" style packaging, they went towards a more anime style look and feel. This ended up to be a good strategy[4]:

Quote:
"この戦略が当たった。新しもの好きDTMユーザーに加え、バーチャルインストゥルメントをあまり利用しないライトなDTM層、そして、アニメファンも手にとってくれた。"
Quote:
"This plan was a big success. It was purchased by DTM users that enjoyed new products, light DTM users and anime fans."
(Rough Translation)

Soon to come after was the release of the male counterpart to MEIKO: KAITO. KAITO was released by Crypton in July of 2006 [9]. Unfortunately, being a male singer, it wasn't accepted as much as MEIKO was. However, things were about to get interesting for Crypton. In August of 2007, Crypton released a new VOCALOID under a new major version of the YAMAHA engine: Hatsune Miku[10].

Speaking of OSTER, in the thread you mentioned he got his VOCALOID from his granfather when he was for. I think he was actually making fun of the Japanese Werthers Original commercial (it's one of those NicoNico Douga things >.>; ):

http://www.morinaga.co.jp/cm/werthers.html

but.. seems kind of crazy, so you never know

Edit: I don't see anything on his site.. but then again it's late at night so I'm pretty disoriented

Edit: http://gihyo.jp/lifestyle/serial/01/vocaloid/0001 nevermind

I just s**tted myself when I found a message board with a large cache of M3 2007 and 2008 releases, Moar touhou, moar dbu, moar zun, moar alicemotion.

Seems like minamotoya released a tiny album this year too at M3, not to mention I literally ripped it in 3 minutes.

So he has, I assume M3 hasn't fully ended or the other people hasn't got around to uploading it.

Anyone has a good .ogg to Mp3 converter? (Free of course)
