Re: New Hacked Scores thread
I'm in favor of an IP screening of all T2/3 or better players, checking their IP's for other accounts, and blacklisting any of those accounts. As long as you don't have a dynamic IP (like darkshark) it shouldn't be that hard... If I had the power to do it I would, just because I know most other FFR staff cbf with doing it.
Would be nice to have some Admin around that cared enough to do it. |

Re: New Hacked Scores thread
Unfortunately though, I talked with Sprite about alternate accounts. He said that as long as the scores are achieved legitimately, they won't get removed. So you can just be a prick and alt the scoreboards and get away with it as long as you're actually doing the files.
In other words, alts are strongly discouraged, but are allowed to fill up the scoreboards. |

Re: New Hacked Scores thread
I don't really see any problem with alts except ban evasion.

Re: New Hacked Scores thread
Yeah, you're right. We shouldn't be so hard on the alts for unfunny trolling, when there are people like you who are even MORE unfunny, and who are constantly making posts all over the forums.
-zeroSKILL-: ya, bad idea, that basically ends up meaning that if someone has a dynamic IP, or if you ever let someone play at your house, some good players are going to end up blacklisted. Instead we should just worry about accounts which are clearly alts. Dossar: Sprite isn't the only admin though, if he doesn't care about level high scores someone else will. The whole point of the high score system was always to keep track of the best people, not just the best individual plays of the chart, so if top players can record as many scores on a chart as they want, there's really no point in playing FFR at all. Put it that way and I'm sure some of the admins will see the value in regulating alt scores.

I would have every intention of ensuring the account being blacklisted was an alt, and prefer to err on the side of leaving an alt un-blacklisted in favor of maybe blacklisting a legit player. I'm sure it would be a time consuming and excruciatingly boring process, but I would treat it no differently than whoring Synth songs/BNS songs for AAA's. Do as many as I can at a time before it becomes unbearable, and tackle the rest later. It's not a job that's going to be done in a single night. |

Re: New Hacked Scores thread
and this is why I wish I don't delete posts, lol. SOMEONE, ANYONE responds to it. Whoopsies.
I was listing the accounts used on this computer and saying that if zeroskill had his way, they'd be gone (along with Herogashix' AAA on Lolo that I like to tease him with) Last edited by Emithith; 08-31-2011 at 01:23 AM.. Reason: making the post look cleaner, those brackets weren't very useful |

Re: New Hacked Scores thread
Whoops, sorry for not making my intentions obvious. It's not like I don't realize some people play within the same house/have dynamic IP's. I just hate people that go and make alts to troll FFR Brag Board or people who get bored trying to improve their main account's rank, and go make an alt to see what kind of scores they can get on a fresh account.
It is my belief that more than half the people that make alts to go AAA VC+ difficulty files are just bored going for ranks on their own account. And so they go and mess up everyone elses ranks by AAA'ing songs few others can. I fail to see anything right with this. At minimum, there should be a question when a second account on an already IP registered account makes a new account if it is an alt, and hopefully people will be honest enough to say they made an alt for fun or w/e they made it for and have an account like that not have scores registered. |

The whole thing seems silly to me. I say it's a waste of time to mess up people's ranks on songs. lol you'd have to make several emails and accounts just to mess up a person's rank? Too time consuming. edit: That's why I am saying that maybe a restraint like 100~150 games played wouldn't be that much of a good idea since, it only happens when people have like nothing to do (Go outside, you fools.) Re: New Hacked Scores thread
Not that hard to do actually. A long time ago I filled the top ten scoreboard on RATO with like 10 alts (the thread got deleted) pretty easily since back then it was basically mashed heavily. However the scores were removed even though I got them legit haha.
To be fair however, it was an inside joke with albanee. |

Re: New Hacked Scores thread
I have 3-4 alts on this IP. A few alts I have never used with my main IP just so I can ban evade if need be (I used to be banned quite often). But I never go for rank whoring on any account aside from this one.
Going through the FMO/FGO songs leaderboards, you'll easily spot quite a few alts in almost every leaderboard though. It's not one dedicated person screwing everyones ranks, it's a collective of high tier players that have nothing better to do. So while yes, what Emithith said about creating multiple email accounts to make multiple FFR accounts to get multiple FFR scores would be time consuming and tedious, just having 50 people do it once kinda screws the ranks up pretty badly... |

lol you're all making such a big deal about ranks and alts
to me (someone who doesn't care about ranks etc.) this is all pretty funny (and sounds noob)
