AAA tips?
Yeah, I'm looking for tips on how to improve my general accuracy ingame. I can FC (without mashing) some VC songs but I fail to AAA anything 2/3 or higher (Except somehow I AAA'd Seven), even after nearly 5 years.. I normally do good on SDG's though.
Any playing style tips? (Spread, SDOP, 1.9 speedmod). Also, in StepMania, I fail to get accuracy on normal Judge, but on Judge 2 I can AAA Bloodrush. Last edited by rayword45; 09-24-2011 at 09:45 AM.. |

Re: AAA tips?
Check out other threads before making one.
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=94323 I'll answer anyway, You're using a good key setup and speedmod, so there is nothing to worry about there. Try finding out what your weaknesses are and practice files that create a challenge for you. sometimes bumping down/up your speed might help. Dossar, negotiably the best player plays on 1.75, and some play on 2.1, so try out different things and see which one is the best for you.

Re: AAA tips?
My stratagy for AAAing back in the day was pretty simple. Warmup with speedier songs, hard songs you're not even considering AAAing, but you may be able to full combo or only a few combo breaks. Spend about 20-30 minutes on those songs.
Go back to the songs you want to AAA. They'll just seem easier. |

Re: AAA tips?
I keep saying this, but don't blame it on Vista. I have a laptop with Vista installed, and the game works very well when you have a standalone at least.

Re: AAA tips?
You guys keep raggin on Vista...as much as I hated it, some of my better scores were on a standalone on a Vista computer...

Re: AAA tips?
I've been having trouble breaking into the FGOs for a while. The best recent playing advice I've read came from an old Reincarnate post. I switched from linear spread (zx12) to a setup that allows my hands to fall more naturally onto the keys (EFLP). This allowed my fingers to strike with a lot more speed, accuracy, and consistency than linear, which had my index and middle fingers at different lengths and angles and just plain not well coordinated. I think Dossar plays on a really tight linear spread though, and there's not much anyone can criticize about his game.
Play SM. If there was a "Regurgitated FFR Advice Of The Century" award, this would win it hands down, and there's a reason for that: It's brilliant. Not only does it have smaller accuracy frames, but it allows you to practice complex patterns with better arrow separation on lower speeds than FFR, which teaches you to recognize those patterns better when they ARE crunched together. For accuracy, you might want to try the Velocity engine and switch to a noteskin like Orbular. Arrows are all different shapes, and seeing their timing visually isn't intuitive for everyone. Orbs are all the same size and shape and it's very easy to recognize their relative timing. On the other hand, a lot of people complain that Velo engine lags, so you might get random goods anyway. Pay attention to colors too. This might seem like stupidly obvious advice, but I didn't figure out colors were related to rhythm for an embarrassingly long time. Knowing how different colors are related can save your AAAs on lower level songs that you have to play visually because of low speeds, poor sync, or just weird steps. Play outside your comfort zone in general. Getting AAAs is more about being good at the game overall than using esoteric gimmicks. I wouldn't worry about AAAing 9s until you can reliably FC most 11s. There's also an element of luck. Sometimes you get the AAA and sometimes you just don't, and the game can be pretty random about PA sometimes. It takes a lot of patience, a lot of diligence, and some luck. Last edited by Mike Weedmark; 09-25-2011 at 11:24 AM.. |

Re: AAA tips?
I just tried EFLP and wow that is way more uncomfortable and inefficient for me than good ol' linear lmfao.
I use DFJK normally but in cases like Revolutionary Etude where I had to bypass a few anchors I used m,./ (which is basically as tight as you can get). What's more important is the positioning in that case. For speed modifiers, I recommend something that has a comfortable hitting and reading range while at the same time giving enough time to interpret what's coming at you. 1.75x is a clean frame conversion and makes 1 and 2 frame intervals more obvious to see when you've taken a look at the file a few times. Don't choose something too slow, and don't choose something too fast - sometimes it's better to rely on your keytaps and vision since just following the song doesn't really help on the harder files (where a combination of jumps may also require you to hit off) |

Re: AAA tips?
EFLP was horribly, HORRIBLY awkward for me at first. It takes getting used to, and like I said, there's not much anyone can criticize about your game. You basically "beat FFR" already, so there's no reason for you to change :P It's just an idea.
