Allow me to go on this last rant to make things very clear.


Today I was essentially called out after having expressed the following things:

1. I was curious about the representation of cis females at the top of vsrg's.
2. I was surprised to learn that one such female is actually mid-high D8 in another game.

It is a known fact that females in general are a still small minority in the world of vsrg's, and cis females are an even tinier percentage of that. In my ~15 years of playing FFR and being a part of the community (also on Stepmania back in the days), I can count on my fingers the amount of cis females I've heard of or talked to who played somewhat near (although still relatively far from) the top level at any given time.

Naturally, when you have a subset of people that is literally less than 1% of the players, having a select few of them be Actually near the top level is a surprising thing.

That being said, it is the year 2023 and I talked about cis females and my surprise of seeing one be incredibly good at vsrg's and therefore I shall be cancelled. I should've never been curious about that in the first place because we're all humans and asking such things is clearly offensive.

No one is criticising your surprise that there are female players who are very good in rhythm games. People are criticising the way that you demarcated this clear line between trans women and cis women and the way that you've constantly treated cis women as some kind of distant species. The way you've phrased it might not appear weird to you, but if you've never been in that situation where you're being described as this homogeneous group of people (with "females" no less! Which is like the most "biological" way you can describe it in a everyperson way), it feels invalidating.

Your initial talking point was wondering whether "there were non-trans women who could get 99-100 equiv scores" on FFR. While some people will assume that, it's still a pretty offputting thing to read because it seemed like a strange (and, as a trans woman myself, alienating as hell) question to ask in the first place. Why are you excluding trans women? Is it because of biology? Most trans women will go through hormonal replacement therapy and all that too, and their muscle composition will change accordingly if they've taken it for long enough. A fair number of those people exist, and it would be strange to exclude those people. And there are trans women on FFR who are going through HRT right now and are racking more 99-100+ equiv scores than most people will dream of getting.

When people pointed out that it was a strange question for you to ask, you legitimately said something along the lines of "damn are you afraid that I'll get cancelled or something?". Like, the fuck? This thing is a really sensitive topic especially given the climate of how trans people are excluded from sports divisions that match their identified gender. Trans women still struggle today to be acknowledged as genuine women, and the way you've phrased things don't help those insecurities. It might not be your intention to alienate those people, or women in general, and sure, you might not know any better, but the fact that you didn't yield on the topic until multiple people told you to in one way or another, is pretty bad. Of course, people can be patient with you and answer your question tactfully, but most people didn't. And given your behaviour in that instance (and frankly, your argumentative approach in the FFR server over the past few years), I think that speaks more to people's impressions of your willingness to yield and learn than to other people's behaviour.

And this isn't just people who dislike you telling you off either. When multiple people, especially people who are reasonable and amicable with you, feel that you've said something wrong, you probably did something wrong. There was even a cis woman herself bringing up the fact that she's super uncomfortable with you bringing the topic up, and you ended up trying to goad a response from her. The fact that you're chalking all of this up to how people can't bring up these topics anymore because they're too sensitive in this time period, when people who are more experienced in the topic have told you to show more tact, is pretty disappointing and frankly straight up gross. Grow the fuck up, dude.
