Super Hexagon (a twitch reflexes/pattern reading game)
Does anyone besides me play this? I find it a really fun game for the same reason I find rhythm games fun - it's a very minimalist, pure skill that you can push to ridiculous extremes just by playing it and letting your unconsciousness digest it, and it's really cool and satisfying to execute. It's available on Steam and iPhone/iPad, it's cheap and since most games end in death in under a minute you can whip it out and play it any time there's a gap in your schedule, on any train ride, etc. The only controls are moving left and moving right, yet successively harder stages push you to use all of your finger control, all of your reactions and reflexes and pattern recognition and unconscious muscle memory. When you are first playing this game, the most important skill to develop is getting muscle memory for moving your pointers by exact increments (one 'arc', two 'arc's, three 'arc's, and also under/over compensating for being close to an edge). Also, be warned that Hexagonest and Hyper Hexagonest have a slightly faster pointer speed than the other 4 difficulties, and when you first start playing them it'll almost be like learning the game all over again at first. Super Hexagon pattern guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=121153531 My best times atm: Hexagon: 188.18 Hexagoner: 187.08 Hexagonest: 88.05 Hyper Hexagon: 153.23 Hyper Hexagoner: 128.18 Hyper Hexagonest: 80.17 There's also an interesting clone of Super Hexagon called Open Hexagon. The levels that come with it aren't as polished as the Super Hexagon ones (well, you get what you pay for), but what's really interesting about the game is that it offers LUA/json scripting of entirely new levels and gimmicks. So, I definitely think that there's the talent on this website to come up with something really awesome on Open Hexagon, and I'm willing to collaborate if you are >: )

I was hooked on this game for the few days before my computer crapped out. It's a fun game, very frustrating to start out.

I swear I played something like this on Kong once... and it can be very frustrating too.

smartdude, you're thinking of Hexagon, the original Flash version.
I actually got Super Hexagon myself recently... thinking of trying it out.

You're thinking of Hexagon, which was made in one day and has one difficulty level. Super Hexagon is way more polished and keeps offering challenge for ages.

Re: Super Hexagon (a twitch reflexes/pattern reading game)
After getting 350 seconds on the flash version I picked this one up... beat Hexagon in two tries and Hexagoner with not much trouble, but I haven't been able to beat Hexagonest and the Hyper versions yet.

I do this with every video game. I'm kind of surprised I'm not dead yet.

tip for hyper hexagon/er: the most common cause of death for me on these levels is reacting a little late, getting stunned that I lived, reacting a little later, etc... until I am dead. if you are falling a bit behind keep your pointer moving, e.g. if you're doing a triple C a bit sluggishly instead of stopping and waiting when you reach the gap keep holding it down so you orient yourself before the next gap rly quickly. and in the same theme, you should always be reading a bit ahead of the end of the pattern to see if there's a C coming up and which direction it's facing in - so you don't relax at the end of the pattern and lose the small window of opportunity to orient for it. pay more attention to the top and the bottom since you have less time to react if the gap first appears on those closer edges. (tips for hyper hexagonest: it's always R R L L L. don't even think just execute)

Re: Super Hexagon (a twitch reflexes/pattern reading game)
Oh man, I tried this game earlier today at college, and I must say I'm really bad at it, even on the easiest difficulty .
Also, I found this really funny YouTube vid of a person rage quitting at this game, let's just say my stomach was killing me afterwards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owttr...=results_video

I found that I play this 100% better without sound. I always accidentally interpret the patterns as coming in on the beat (which doesn't happen unfortunately) which messes up my timing. I feel like i just need to play alot more to get good, since the majority of my (current) deaths for hexagonist are from triple Cs and me overrotating from playing too much hexagoner lol |
