Day 924: In the Court of the Dragon by Trivium (Album Choice: katanaeyegaming)

I came into this one expecting to be bored to tears, but actually it was quite fun! A little overlong in my opinion and definitely wanky, but the riffs here are mostly pretty sick. This isn't a subgenre of metal I know super well which means that this is probably pretty accessible to what a metal snob would call a "plebian" and it's up to you to tell yourself if that's a good or bad thing.

People who are writing top 2021 albums lists for magazines and Pitchfork-esque websites are jizzing all over this album so I came in wanting to hate it.

But I can't, this isn't amazing to me but it's well-made, doesn't overstay its welcome and is just gorgeous in general. Good shit.

Well, it's an improvement over the last one of hers I listened to, which I guess makes sense as she matures. This started out really strong, started to annoy me around track 3, and kept annoying me until it closed with 2 really strong cuts. Should've been an EP.

On the other hand this absolutely slaps. Other than the somewhat annoying first part of Life In A Mind this is a banger all the way through. I danced alone in my apartment for nearly the entire duration of this thing.
