No, I don't play FFR any more.
FFR tournaments are not televised. They don't have thousand-dollar cash prizes. You can't compare that to Super Smash Brothers. Also, FFR/Stepmania is more tournament-worthy than SSBM. The level of speed your fingers have to move along with the speed your eyes need to read and interpret the arrows far exceeds the skill level of SSBM. And yet, there still aren't televised FFR/Stepmania tournaments. And finally, I'd totally go to tournaments if you all weren't wavedash/anti-item whores. Except I just don't care enough to drive myself out somewhere to play a party game against people I don't know only to have them go ROFL PWNED U SUX NOOB LOLOLOLOL when they beat someone. |

Squeek, I've played in tournaments for quite a while now.
No one has ever told me I suck. I have never told anyone they suck. I've never even heard of it happening. There will be jerks in any game, but most people in SSBM are nice and just wanna have fun. But well, if you go "oh, you can't win without that ____", people are gonna, as you said, be jerks about it.

You can't tell me it doesn't happen. That's all I hear in Counter-Strike matches, for one. In Halo, it's customary to give someone the good 'ol "You Suck!" in the form of a teabag. I can't imagine that just for Super Smash Brothers, people are all like "oh, that was a splendid match old chap!" "righto! Care for a cup of tea, lad?"
But whatever. I said before I won't have a problem playing online with anyone from FFR. |

It happens in Halo all of the time, and I've never played CS, but I'd imagine it happens there as well.
SSBM players are, in general, nicer. They really are the people who just started playing this as a party game with their buds and started to play more and more until it got a little competitive.

..and it's obvious you've never gotten too into smash, because it does require precise timing and speedy fingers. It's easily compared to FFR in my opinion. Except, the fight can go so many different ways. FFR is the same stepfile each stage. Learning how to be quick with your fingers, precise with your attacks and timing, to deal with certain situations while still not letting yourself be predictable about it. It's tough, but it's fun as ****. I've sat down and played a guy that JUST found SmashBoards, he was very bad. I played him for hours on end, because he had the will to get better. I admired that, so I helped him. He said he wasn't leaving until he beat me, but it got pretty late. lolol Quote:

I will love the online play! Do you have to pay for a certain, how you say, account? Does it work like Metroid Prime: Hunters? Because my wii connects to my wireless router, as does most.

I 100% completed the game. I don't care if you "rofl" at it because I didn't have to play against aZnXPika4Marth or whoever you constantly talk about. I spent days getting all 290 trophies. Then I got them all and I was done with the game. So I started playing --gasp-- *other* games! My Gamecube library is at 42 games now. I've 100% completed at least half. I don't have the time to continuously play one game over and over again if I ever care to play other games to completion or beyond. After I 100%d it, it turned into a game to play when friends were over and nothing more. |

OMG I CAN'T WAIT....JEEZ. I have been saving up money little by little for a Wii....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love Super Smash, but it is hard to play while I am away from home. Currently I play the first one online, but pretty soon melee will be coming out online on the GC emulator...thankfully. I already have my super joy box 13 set up and everything (sjb13 is the gc controller to usb converter.)

I almost got it pre-ordered. Just a little more money into it, and all I'll have to do is walk in and grab it on release date.

All you have to do is walk into gamestop or some other game store and say "Can I preorder Super Smash Bros. Brawl" then they will take your number and name and you need to put atleast $5 down as down payment to guarantee your copy on launch date. They will also call you when they receive the game and then you can go back to the store to pick it up.

Ok, since it happens in two shooters, in should definitely happen in every game... From my understanding, people in Halo and CS will do most of their training in online play, without ever seeing most of the people they're going to play against. SSBM players train with each other, they get to know each other. Also, you can't "100% complete SSBM." Sure, you can 100% complete the material aspect of the game by getting all the trophies, bonuses, etc...but can you consistently moving desynch the ICs? Can you consistently double missle with Samus (in one jump), or consistently SH double lazer with Fox? What about performing Ness' jacket attacks? |

I did everything the developers put into the game toward completion ratio. That makes it a 100%. Who the crap cares if I can perform glitches on command? Oh right, tourneybums who need wavedashing to compete. Also, video gamers tend to play more than one game. The same people who play Halo online may just play Counter Strike when Halo is boring. Or Day of Defeat. Or Gears of War. Or Super Smash Brothers Melee. |

Well, that's partially true. Although my friend plays and beat SSBM and moves on to games like Gears of War and Phantasy Star, that doesn't mean he won't come back to it to play it from time to time. It really depends on the attention span of the gamer to constantly play a certain game for a long time, or getting a new one.
