lemme just say as a long islander that long island as its own STATE is laughable, let alone country
i mean, sure, long island pays billions more in taxes than it receives from the state, but LI has next to nothing to offer in terms of interstate trade, and that would pretty much cancel out the effects of getting those billions back

I'm not sure if you got my point. A Canadian created a petition for the US on an official US government website.

This shows how much credibility this entire secession petition has.
It also shows how intelligent the US government is for funding and approving this joke of a website.

inb4 the original petition for Texas to secede was made by Devonin.

So this is pretty much the "Over 9000 penises" thing but political. Since it's political, it's automatically srsbzns. Can't wait until it dissolves into a "no u" fight.

That number means less politically than the number of "likes" Mitt Romney has on Facebook.

These things mean NOTHING except "Some people whose party lost the election are upset that their party lost the election" that they've chosen to be extra-tasty-morons about it just proves what a relief it was that their party lost.

Edit: Also, there's a petition there now calling for him to be impeached for reasons that include his presumed failure to uphold the constitution which he swore to protect, by doing things that would modify the constitution. These people realise that the 2nd amendment was an AMENDMENT to the constitution yes?
Well, yeah. I could go there right now and make a petition to declare August 11th as National Doritos Day. (It would probably get a lot of signatures too.) All I'm saying is that while many of the signers are uninvolved parties from other states, there is obviously some political dissent within each of the states. I think it's unfair to belittle these people just because they disagree with the government or its decisions. Obviously secession is a poor idea, but maybe some people honestly can't think of any better way to promote their politics. Using my home state of Oregon again as an example, we've been a blue state for about 20 years. That's 20 years of decisions that a lot of Republicans in the state likely strongly disagreed with. So you could understand that some of the more radical Republicans would jump the gun and support secession.

The right to free speech != the right to be taken seriously

As an example, plenty of people (for years) cry out against Creationism not being taught in the science classroom. Does that mean we have to actually lend credence to their steam-huffed whining? Nooooo. Did your high school teach evolution? Mine sure didn't (grew up in Oregon, too).

I went to public schools.
They taught evolution and not creationism.

mfw there's public schools that don't teach evolution? Thought that was only private schools that didn't teach it lol.
