Re: The Current Path of FFR
Career achievements/tokens could push people to play the game more.
That's one idea I'd like to see happen. I'm also planning making one big project once the tournament ends. I'm not saying anything about this for now...

Re: The Current Path of FFR
I don't like this. This is just dividing all players into separate categories based on skill alone. I've always wanted to meet someone with a skill set appropriate for D1, but they're always so intimidated because of my skills ):

There needs to perhaps be a way or an algorithm that gives you an average of a score, from like 1-99 that updates to your current skill level. (Factoring in AAA / FC / etc) I'm not good at math so I have no idea how to do that. And hello iironiic im d1 and scared of you.

Re: The Current Path of FFR
@ iironiic and Xiz: shrug. best I can come up with. it's not even like players of different skill levels would be segregated; the #1 player can check out scores from up-and-comers, and vice versa. I just think it's a solution to someone putting up a Secret Zombie Room SDG and not even being spotted because there was a Blue Rose AAA posted on the same page.

Re: The Current Path of FFR
Reincarnate has been added as a developer, so he's going to help out where he can.
Also, devonin has return as an admin. Plans are being made to get things done, I don't know what else to say, this thread made things explode in terms of hopefully getting things done. |

edit: I know this shit would get out of hand eventually, but maybe a usergroup of Scoreboard Mods that can be in charge of sweeping scores? I know they'd have to edit code and crap, but Dossar seems to be pretty good at sniffing out bullshit. |

Re: The Current Path of FFR
oh, I thought you were talking about an actual scoreboard. The Amateur FFR scores thread still gets used from time to time, but whatever. People should all just post in the FFR scores thread and not worry about getting commended for scores. Post because you're proud, not because you want attention.

Re: The Current Path of FFR
Lots of p sick ideas in this thread. Even if only half of them come to fruition, traffic should be booming once again eventually.
Imo, vidchat and profile features (music on profiles, etc.) should be top priority right off the bat since those will ultimately bring in the most traffic. Once those have been coded, go nuts with everything else. New site layout, updated tp list, more tokens and badges (achievements were the reason I became so immersed in this site in the first place), anything to make the place more user-friendly for beginners, etc. Also I think it would be pretty neat to start running monthly official events (or bi-monthly if it ends up involving a shitton of work) that each last almost the duration of the entire month. Expand event manager staff if you need to, because this would definitely keep the place booming. The events could involve playing the game, but they don't have to (see Photo Hunts). Plus if people are really serious about that FFR RPG and it actually becomes an official part of the game (which would be pretty sick if you ask me), I'm sure a ton of things could be done with that in terms of monthly spon cons, quests, team/clan battles...personally I'd love if this RPG takes off and gives out profile badges for each 'quest' you complete either solo or with your party. Possibilities, possibilities.. Last edited by One Winged Angel; 08-28-2012 at 01:16 AM.. |

Re: The Current Path of FFR
Wow, I've got to say I'm overjoyed with how this thread has evolved. This has blossomed into a topic where people have conveyed feelings and opinions about this site, and more importantly have been able to explain which areas can see improvement. It seems a lot of these ideas have been floating around in people's heads for quite some time and just needed a means to be brought to everyone without being overlooked. It is VERY encouraging to see the kinds of changes we are seeing in such a short time with the return of devonin and the added assistance of Reincarnate to the mechanics of the game.
I can only hope that this kind of collaboration and more importantly, open mindedness continues and that we can work together to improve the FFR experience for years and years to come. |
