Yay for getting my hopes up, and crashing them down as I read further into this thread. But yeah, 'tis all fake.

I might have thought about this more logically if I didn't have a 102 fever the day this was posted, but I really did get excited.

Despite the fact this is fake and all, I do want to say this:

Personally, I'd rather leave my nostalgia as just that -- nostalgia. I don't want any reboots or continuations or offshoots or episodes or any of that stuff. It just wouldn't be the same, especially considering that much of the reason we enjoyed Nick shows is because we were kids in a different era.

EVERY generation goes through this: "Our stuff was so much better! The stuff that's being churned out for the younger generation nowadays is total bullshit." Kids now love the stuff that's currently being produced just as we loved the stuff we grew up with. But that's the cool part about nostalgia -- it's personalized and unique, and yet knowing that there are others who are nostalgic over the same stuff is what makes it cool.

However, that being said, I do think that the cartoon networks used to be a lot better. XD There seemed to be a lot more interesting variety and less reliance on slapstick humor. Even if I were to lump the old and new Nick shows together, the contrast is pretty stark. There was a lot more creativity back then in terms of character development, plots, humor, etc. Not sure how the new generation has changed but I feel sorry for it. XD

Never watched much Cartoon Network as a kid because it wasn't part of our cable package until I was about 13 years old. :/
Occasionally I would watch Courage the Cowardly Dog at my friend's house who had satellite but I guess I just didn't get it. The show kinda creeped me out.

Me too ;.; could rarely watch that show because when I was younger it would scare the shit out of me XD

But some of the shows today do need to be re-looked at. Too many human shows, less cartoons. Kids that are 13-14 years old and younger having all of the latest technology. It's just weird.

A cool idea; if you were to have a 10 year old watch Hey Arnold then watch iCarly [as examples of older cartoons and newer cartoons] back to back, I wonder what the outcome would be. Obviously it would have to be a very controlled experiment where the child had never seen either one before but it'd be an experiment worth seeing the results of.

I have to say though that most plot lines and character development in today's cartoons in rather one-dimensional. Episodes have no continuity, there are no "twists" because plots aren't continuous, and yes, the humor is terrible. Some slapstick humor is ok, but relying on it to make a show humorous is just not right. Humor should come from the overarching situation's as well as the from character's personality.

EDIT: Sorry if none of this makes sense. It's rather difficult to explain in words what makes humor, well humorous.

If that's true, then dammit they should have picked better shows than those >.> Kenan & Kel was horrible, The Amanda Show wasn't all that great all the time, and I don't remember Clarissa but I don't think I want to >.> Rugrats is the best one in that list and hopefully they don't make it the All Grown Up version because they killed Rugrats with making them grow up.

well yeah, these are two unrelated things [for one, this doesn't seem to be "new episodes" but rather just airing old shows] (the first one was definitely BS). that said, i'm not completely ruling out that, you know, nick might have indirectly been inspired by the fake rumour to do something like this but yEAH

still this is good news, definitely better than the first rumour (this new one is legit, fyi)

I personally couldn't stand Kenan & Kel, but that's just me [and my brother] :P I preferred the cartoons over the actual people shows. Still do. Cartoons are more stimulating to the wandering mind XD yay for a short attention span.
